I'm glad to see these new ones are available via YouTube because the Flash Player videos on the SONAR University site doesn't seem to work. I have the Flashplayer plug in installed for Internet Explorer 8/9, but the videos wont show at that SONAR Uinversity site.

Maybe Cakewalk should look into the matter? The videos used to show around the time when SONAR University was new, but since then, the videos don't even show at all anymore.

All  videos on CakeTV are available on YouTube in up to 1080p. Due to the Amazon cloud server issue we're not able to link these videos to CakeTV right now, hence the YT links.

Good suggestions. The Get Started videos are designed to be quick and simple for new users to get a particular part of the software up and running, so you won't see anything more than that in GS videos. However, our Go Deeper videos explore those topics on a deeper level, and we've got several more in the works.

Good job on providing these videos!! I really appreciate the Go Deeper videos!!

However, I always wondered why Cakwalk didn't offer these "X1 Tips & Tricks" videos for free? Why does it need to be outsourced (ex. Groove3) to an outside company? (I have nothing against Groove3 making money as everyone needs to make a living), but Cakewalk already provides some good tutorials.....so why not offer the same type of "Tips & Tricks" for free?
Of course, I'm just looking at it from a paying customers point of view and wondering why it's necessary to pay more money to learn the features of X1 when it should be provided by Cakewalk just as all the others are available on Cake TV (at least IMHO)?

(I actually promote & recommend the Groove3 tutorials as well as Sonar X1 Power to anyone on the fence or thinking of getting X1, so my comments here are not intended to be negative in nature.....just curious and also hoping no one takes it personally.)

    Mesh,

Every video you see on CakeTV and our YouTube channel is free for you to watch. We have all kinds of tips and tricks style videos in our Master Classes as well as the Go Deeper videos.

We don't outsource video production to anyone. All of our CakeTV videos are done in house by myself, Brandon Ryan, Robin Kelly, Mike Trujillo, and Jimmy Landry. We're all Cakewalk staffers and do not work for another company.

Groove3 is a third-party company, is not affiliated with Cakewalk, and has nothing to do with CakeTV. They offer their videos as a third-party product for profit.

Hope that helps clear things up.

Both video products have their place. The CakeTV videos are great. The Groove3 videos are the best way to learn X1. For $49 you quickly become familiar with topics. Awesome value.

I don't know if it's illegal, but I've downloaded a bunch of these tutorials. It's a must if you have a crap internet connection like I do.

I use Firefox 3.6.16 and the CacheViewer Add-on. You let the vid cache all the way, open CacheViewer, right click on the file and download it. CacheViewer does not work with Firefox 4.0 or 3.6.17 on my XP and Win7 system. Your experience may vary.

    Bub

Added: I didn't even bother downloading these. There's not much information in them imo.

You'll have to download the cache viewer.

    Here's a link to CacheViewer.

Here's a link to the old Firefox 3.6.16. It's on their public FTP server. (3.6.17 doesn't work with CacheViewer on my system so I use 3.6.16.)

There are other ways to save these vids but this seems to work the best for me.

No need to roll it back.

An alternative to Bud's suggestion is Download Helper. Its also a FF plugin and works with FF version 4.

I've never had good luck with Download Helper. But it's been a while since I used it, hopefully it's a few versions more advanced now. It never seemed to be able to find as many cached files CacheViewer did.

I didn't like FF 4.0 which is another reason why I rolled back to 3.6.

Another alternative is to use Internet Explorer.  IE doesn't hide the cache, so you can go to it directly.  Typically, it's in...

    C:\Documents and Settings\<userID>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Wait until the video has fully loaded (the light red part of the progress bar makes it all the way to the right), then sort the Temp directory by Last Accessed and look for a big file.  That will usually be your video.  Copy it and give it an .flv extension if it doesn't have an extension already...and you're good to go.

Bud : its been updated for FF4

Dan, here's another method for IE : open IE then > Tools > Internet Options  > select the "General" tab > in "Browsing History" click Settings > then View Files > it takes you to the Temp Internet directory where, if you sort by size or last modified, you'll find your video files at the top of the list.

    Cheers,
