Shortcut Keys for Cutting, Copying, and Pasting

Two related things:

1.  Sometimes when I highlight a section (range) and hit the Delete key, it deletes the events in the range--but sometimes it does not and I have to go to Edit |CUT.  Similarly, sometimes Ctrl + X, Ctrl + C, and Ctrl + V work and sometimes they don't.  Anyone know why this is?  Note: Delete in the past was not the same as Cut because Delete did not put the material on the clipboard.  This is handy when you copy a section, scroll to the new location, and delete the existing material before pasting what is on the clipboard.

2.  I would like the Paste Special menu to appear every time I Paste, but it does not, even though I have "Ask Every Time" checked in Preferences.  In the past, I would do Ctrl + V and then get the box asking whether to replace or blend, which track to start on, etc.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks.

Ctrl+Alt+V to get the Paste Special dialog. Or you can change the shortcut via the Key Bindings.

Thanks.  Any idea why the editing shortcut keys work sometimes and not others?  Example:  Right before I wrote this, the delete key did nothing to a highlighted selection.  Now it is deleting it: same file, same session, haven't rebooted, etc.

No, not sure why. You'll probably need to submit the project to Cakewalk tech support so they can take a look at it.

Not confined to any single project but thanks for answering.

I checked Scott's book and found nothing about shortcut keys or mouse clicks failing at random. It's a feature of X1 that was overlooked before publishing. I'm bothered by this feature as well. It makes me wonder where the mouse clicks and keystrokes go. Likely sitting in a pile with odd socks somewhere.
In all honesty this thing is a crap shoot for me. It came out rock solid (for me) and every fix causes more problems. Windows 7 has released many more patches than Cakewalk and I'm certain that some of my issues are caused by windows. I was dropping keystrokes and noticed that Windows had done an update and installed a new keyboard driver. A rollback fixed than problem but I still have mouse issues in the console view. Lots of problems in the console view.
I'm afraid to try any sort of fix though. Amazon sent me a request to write a review of Sonar X1 Power. I was the first person to give it a review. Not too long after, their servers blew up. X1 is possessed.

Thanks, Apmfixer: good to know I am not alone.

Regarding Scott's comments about using Ctrl+Alt+V to get the Paste Special dialog, that's good to know, but here's why I want that to be the default:

    - Go to Track 1 and copy something.
    - Open Track 29 to paste, and guess what?  It pastes to Track 1 right on top of what you just copied.

That has been the case for many versions of Sonar and it seems like an odd default; that said, if that's how it is, make Paste Special the default for Ctrl+V so we can see where the material is going.  I selected "Ask Every Time" in Preferences, but Sonar does not ask every time.

Not bashing X1: I like it; just noting that there were some decisions I find odd, and there are some bugs that have been present for 6-7 major releases (at least since 2.2).
