Last weeks brush with notoriety

I was in NYC Thursday morning for a court hearing for my son. A minor but expensive criminal case involving a modified pocket knife. Case was set for dismissal, but we still had to appear in court. As we are walking into the main Criminal Courthouse on Centre street near Chinatown, we notice a group of obvious paparazzi hanging around outside. We went upstairs to wait for his attorney, and there are more photogs outside the courtroom his case is assigned to. They let us in at 9:30 and a few of the photogs go in and attempt to talk the clerk into let them photograph someone, but it's obvious that it's not going to happen so they left.

The first case called was this young lady.

We overheard a policeman standing near us say "That's Keith Richards daughter". After her initial appearance in front of the judge, she went and sat down to wait for the prosecuter and her lawyer to chat, she turned and looked over towards my son and I. She wasn't nearly as attractive as the photo. She had her fathers features just under the skin. It was weird man.

Who among us has never been involved in one of those?

Speaking of Rock 'n' Roll offspring.

I'm not proud of it today but some of my kids, man, I don't even know who their mother's were.

Those with sealed court papers would never mention it.

So, Keith Richard's daughter looked at you?  I'm thinking that having the spawn of the Arch Duke of the Undead gaze into your soul would be pretty unsettling.

I hope that modified pocket knife had a silver blade.  You can't be too careful about these things.

That's exactly what I meant by weird! It was like having Keith look at me, only he had beautiful blond hair and a smokin body, and I immediately wanted to hold him/her in my arms and gaze into her/his eyes and ask him/her detailed, probing questions about the intro lick to Can't Ya Hear Me Knockin.

    Randy,

    That's some story.

Doesn't compete with the time Harvey Corman looked at me as he walked out of a movie theater. Or the time I saw Bob Eubanks (being an arse) at the Burbank airport.

    Still, that's some story.

That would explain why her father looks the way he does...

Boy, things sure have changed. You used to be able to by switch blades from vendors on Canal Street.

I used to carry a big butterfly knife in my back pocket (visable as a wear pattern through my jeans) under the theory that if somebody was going to take me off - they would need something more deadly than a knife or box cutter. No cop ever stopped me.

Speaking of Keefs daughter - its interesting but somehow not surprising that she would be possessed.

    Pfft, that's nothing.

Once I was wandering aimlessly around St Pancras station with a bouy and a mermaid and I bumped into this bloke who actually owns an Alembic.

That's amazing. I too one day was ambling around St Pancras station and happened upon a mermaid and two younger bouys. One of the bouys only charged a nominal fee for such an encounter.
