Help to set up Recording Guitar - Sonar X1 Producer

I'm new to Digital Recording, bought Sonar X1 Producer and the Video Explained (does not include a tutorial for recording guitar).

I have Windows 7, 64 bits
M-Audio Fast Track Pro
Laptop 4GB Ram, T4300@ 2.1 GHZ
Monitors Behringher true B2031A

I connected my electric guitar to M-Audio, and can hear a clean sound in my monitors.

I opened SonarX1,  added an Audio Track, pointed the in to M-Audio Line in (Right) where I'm plugged, the out to Master (also tried M-Audio Out 1/2).  Enabled the recording, started recording and get a distorted sound, crackling with noise.

I also tried recording a loop / Media / Audio Library / Loops, and it sound perfect in my monitors.  While inserting an additional Audio Track, could play on top of the loop and sound perfect.  When tried to recording the guitar, it sounded distorted, crakling and out of tempo.

Any help will be appreciated.

Rgds,

Shaw

Additional information, when recording, I can hear a perfect sound in my monitors.  The issue with the noise is when I play the recording back.

Found the solution, changing the in Preferences, Playback and recording, Driver Mode, from WASAPI to MME 32 BIT.

    Works fine now.

MME is the slowest and weakest driver. Very likely you can't do multitracking with it without disturbing latency. You should use the ASIO driverrs made for your Fast Track. And do note, that ASIO4ALL is NOT ASIO.

Make sure the Fast Track is selected as both Recording and Playback timing master.
