Midi Controller Velocity Problem

I'm normally using a roland gi-20 with the gk-3 pickup as my midi guitar controller. Today I plugged in my m-audio Axiom keyboard and noticed that when I play both the keyboard and guitar the velocity/volume is very low. Before I plugged in the m-audio keyboard the guitars velocity was perfect, loud and pronounced.

I've read where sometimes the m-audio keyboard can send some kind of message that changes velocity values. I'm using sonar 6 studio edition and cubase 4. I have the same velocity/volume issues in each program with my midi controllers.

I tried switching patches, and checked the velocity value on both midi controllers. Everything seems to be normal, except for this volume issue. Do I have to adjust this in my DAW? If so, how?

have you looked at the data that is being recorded in S6 and see what the velocity actually is being recorded at?  if so, what is it and are the notes all the same velocity?
