How to submit a crash log to Cakewalk when there is no crash log????? Help Mods!

Hi

I am having problems with "not crashes" but "The application has stopped responding..." or whatever that message is.  I wish it was a poof crash because i would have the crash log.

Cake asked me to send crash logs and I naively believed that the whatever folder would have the dump file.

But when I checked, it was about 3 weeks ago that I got a dump file.  But I get "not responding" daily.

Is there some other file that windows creates that would suffice?

This stopping responding thing is tiresome.  I am sure it is something simple I have done wrong.

FWIW
I have RME FF800s (2)
UAD 2 (Quad)
MTP AV for midi.

Some odd and end other things like Novation Nocturn, Frontier ALpha Track, Jedi Light Saber... all hooked up.

PC is i7 3.2GHz or so with 12 GB Ram and 3.5TB internal and mabye 6 TB external drives.

System is set up with
C being program files and vsts
D is audio data
E is sample libraries
F is my midget collection - no wait - F is the catch all for stuff that doesn't fit on C D or E.
And the 3 or so 2TB externals are just for backing up.

Running X1B build whatever it is Pro in 64x mode.  I do have a number of 32 bit plugins I use.  I would list them all but it is sort of embarrassing since I have more plugs than talent.

Thanks

I drop a Pentagon in, Sonar locks up. No dumps.
    Go figure.

I get the occasional audio engine crash.

Better than it was but by no means fully stable.

I still feel like I'm walking on egg shells and can only hope that with more iterations and updates to plugs, etc., the program runs as well as it did.

I am serious.  I cannot stay up for long.  I am getting crashes like every 5 minutes.

There has to be a way around this.

Technically, you're experiencing a "hang", not a "crash". The program is waiting for something to happen that's never happening. That could be a lot of things, so you'll have to do some experimentation to narrow down the list of suspects.

Start by opening a brand-new project and start recording some scratch tracks. Don't add any plugins. If it doesn't hang, then things like your audio interface and Alpha Track can be eliminated.

Although a faulty interface can cause this, or even some other non-DAW-related software, in my experience, such hangs have most often been caused by plugins, in particular SE-based plugins. If these hangs are specific to one project, start eliminating plugins one at a time.

thanks bit  yeah windows says it is waiting for sonar to respond.

what do you mean SE-based programs?

By "SE-based" I mean plugins that were created using SynthEdit. 90% of the free stuff out there was created using this tool. Although some of those plugins are very good (e.g. the AcmeBarGig amp sims), they are all prone to compatibility issues, hangs and crashes.

I dont think I have anything that uses SynthEdit that has been involved in the hangs.  I have been hanging with Stylus RMX, Kontakt 6 or 7 or whatever the latest is, Melda M-Drummer....

And my templates usually have Universal Audio stuff already set up (such as a limiter or buss compressor on the output buss, reverb on the reverb send....) though it may be set to do nothing at the time.

I am just getting tons and tons of hangs.

Sent a message off to Scott at ADK to see if he has any suggestions.

I only know of one SE app I have.  I love the sound but to not recall the last time I used it.

Although my BSODs have ended and my "hangups" on closing are a thing of the past since switching my interface (from M-Audio Fast Track Ultra to Focusrite Pro 24 DSP) I still get regular (and often) "The Teleport Server is not responding" or "Sonar is not responding" hangs.  And, yes, they are a royal PITA.  But I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of them are plugin related.  Waves, SoundToys, the latest Kontakt is very problematic, etc...  Sorry you are having so many, ol pal.  There's a better day a comin, by and by.  Just don't know if ol X1 will still be with us when we reach that golden shore.

I appreciate all my ol pals answering my plea for help.  I must say as a very long time user (think purple and black in DOS), I am very disappointed that I am not getting a response from Cake.  I did send a message to the problem reporter or whatever it is called, but as it says in the inital email, I have no dmp file to send.  It is just continuous hangs.

I have been out of town every day for the last 5 days except last night, and I am back out for 4 days starting tonight.  I will try the Bit suggestion I guess next week.

    Thanks

This mirrors my experience.  I'm walking on eggshells when I use X1 - usually can't make it through more than about 20 minutes without a crash, a plugin failing to load, a hang.  Soundtoys Echoboy made X1 crash 4 times yesterday just checking out presets for a half hour, but I used it fine for several hours in 8.5.3.   X1 Problem-prone plugins like Kontakt, UAD, Kore 2, Trilian are in all of my templates (and therefore projects) going back several years, so X1 is relatively useless to me for old (and increasingly so for new projects as well).  I don't get a lot of crash logs, but there are lots of Sonar-related event viewer logs that correspond quite closely to the times I feel a bit masochistic and dive back into X1.

Sadly, It has altered my creative process from "what sound should I use for this part?" to "what sound can I load that won't cause my DAW to crash?"

Hey Moderatorios.  Please there are those of us that have useless setups right now.  Please chime in with help.

Bit I guess I have to start doing your tests tonight.
