They are having babies in the tree behind that tree.

I try to take a peek... but they seem really shy.

I find it curious that the same species of birds are seen up in town and are very relaxed around humans... but the hawks that choose to live out here in the forest don't seem to like people at all.

Anyways, I got lucky with the light... and got a few shots off before the hawk flew to another tree I could not see.

That is a great shot Mike. We've been seeing some Bald Eagles on our property and in the corn fields around us but haven't been able to get a good shot yet.

    Thanks guys.

I had the chance to show my Nephew from suburbia two different Bald Eagles on Saturday at a National Wildlife Refuge down on the coast.

We had fun with the binoculars but the cameras didn't have enough lens.

Sometimes just looking is more fun than taking photos.

    best regards,

We had a Red Kite fly in overhead a couple of days ago.

He'd wandered into gull territory and wished he hadn't he started to circle for about 15 seconds before he'd got the attention and was hounded out of town by a flock of various gulls and crows.

The main gull among those that roost on our roof decided to get all indignant and go equipped with a pebble in his beak for some reason...lol.  Maybe he thought it made him look tougher.

There was quite the kerfuffle for awhile there though.

The Peregrine's have a better approach for round this way they come in at height and have usually taken something out before anyone gets to realise they are about.

Excellent photo.  I've got a couple of ospreys that buzz our neighborhood.  Early sundown is my favorite time of day for bird seeing.  They all head down to the salt marshes at that time.  All kinds of fowl and water birds.  My favorites are the roseate spoonbills.  The setting sun bouncing off their pinkish rose color is magnificent.

Really nice pic! I snapped a pic of this a few months back on the way home. Was right beside the road. All I has was my phone camera though and this image is not the original. I have the 5mp version at home.

I've given up trying to take pics anymore as there are so many twitchers round these parts with rakes of good gear that take plenty of good ones and contribute them to the local wildlife site which is awesome.

Here's a local Marsh Harrier that somebody took with a little domestic digi snapper through his binos the other day.

    Good for him.

We've had a couple of Osprey's around here in recent weeks too Mark along with our resident Spoonbills which alas are not as pretty as the roseate ones.

I have some pictures of 2 foxes in my backyard that I took in January of 2010.

But they're doing something to each that I don't think I can post here...

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.
