Anyway to put song info into a wav file?
I know you can encode song info such as copyright info and the title of the song into an mp3 with X1, but is there a way to do that to a wav file? I want to burn a CD from the 24bit/96kHz files in the project with the info into it. Can I do this in X1 or by using other software? Thanks!

Most audio players will recognize artist, title, and track number from the file name, though, e.g., 06 - Karma Police - Radiohead.wav Otherwise you have to use mp3 or similar file type to encode meta data. cheers

Thanks! Do you know of any MP3 encoders that let you encode at a super high bit rate, higher than 320? I'm not concerned with file size.

Does it need to be mp3? If you asked about wave files I assume you're just looking for a lossless format that has meta-tag info available. OGG could be a candidate. Flac (suggested) is another). MP3 goes pretty high for bit-rate tho, and sheesh it's good enough for U2 to sell a gagillion copies.

If you want a file that's indistinguishable from a CD, a 256kb/s or 320kb/s MP3 will deliver that. There is really no practical reason to go beyond 320kb/s. If, however, you ever want to convert that file back into the original uncompressed wave, it isn't possible. For that you'll need a lossless format such as FLAC. Even though you don't care about file size, it's still worth considering that FLAC files are only about half the size of wave files.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

I know you can encode song info such as copyright info and the title of the song into an mp3 with X1, but is there a way to do that to a wav file? I want to burn a CD from the 24bit/96kHz files in the project with the info into it. Can I do this in X1 or by using other software? It sounds like you've got two requests here: 1. Putting metadata into a wav file. 2. Burning an audio CD with metadata. Sonar can't do either of those, but other software can. For metadata in a wav file, the Broadcast WAV standard is the way to go. I use Adobe Audition for that. But that metadata format isn't well supported outside the broadcast industry, so as others have pointed out a lossless format like flac is probably a better way to go. Flac will also store 24/96 files. For metadata on a CD you need to write CD-TEXT. I like ImgBurn for that, but you have to create a cue sheet for it which isn't the most user-friendly way to go. CD Architect can do it as well and is simpler to use. And of course, a CD won't do 24/96. You do have to get it down to 16/44.1. Sonar can do that part of the process.
