Moving Tracks by Milliseconds

I saw this from a previous post but can't figure out how to 'move' the doubled track by 44ms.

How would you do that in Sonar X1b?

I use a Motown method I read about:

Double the [ track
Move the second track back by 44ms
Roll off all the mids and lows from the 2nd track
Pan it about 40% one way or the other
Add judicious amounts of [ to the first track only.

According to the article, this method mimicks the acoustical
signature of playing in a small club where the main sound
is reflected off the far wall, coming back without its lows
and mids. It definitely gives a warm, clear tone.

Don't know about X1b but that's pretty easy to do with Sonar 8.5. One way would be to edit the clip's start time in its properties but the easiest way would be to use the Nudge feature.

In 8.5 I select Process>Nudge>Settings. In the dialog box I select Absolute Time-Milliseconds. Then by using the Nudge Command (or Keypad) I can move the clip back or forward in whatever increments I chose. Here's what it looks like in 8.5

nudge works the same way in X1, but you get to the preferences differntly. - press "P" then under CUSTOM (ADVANCED MODE) click on SNAP AND NUDGE
however, I would like to warn you that doing what you're doing will introduce phase problems which will be audible.  the best way to do what you're wanting to do is to retrack it a 2nd time, playing the exact same thing, then you can time shift it a little (or not - either way) and pan them wide from each other in the project.

Or just set your time display to milliseconds, zoom in on a transient, turn off grid snap and slide it by hand.

However, there is nothing magic about "44" milliseconds and no need to be that specific. In fact, you may find the best effect is shorter or longer than that. Best to experiment and let your ears tell you when to stop.

One way to experiment conveniently is to insert a delay, set it to 100% wet and turn off sync mode, and then use the slider to move your cloned track back and forth. That way you can fiddle with it easily until you get the sound you want, then take note of the actual delay time you landed on and manually move the track.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Or press the '5' key on the numberpad to go directly there.  I think that works in all versions that have had the 'nudge' feature.
