ESX24-like vocal sampler in Sonar?

Does X1 have an equivalent to the Logic ESX24 vocal sampler?

    No.

Sonar X2 Producer. Focusrite Saffire 6, Fender Strat, black PC for recording and mixing. That is all.

Well, really, it depends what you want to do and what exactly you mean by, "vocal sampler". Do you just want to trigger individual vocal samples? If so you can use DropZone; literally drag and drop a sample or clip into it and it will be pitched up and down the keyboard.

Or you can use the Matrix View to trigger one shots and do stutter effects.

If you want to be able to do more complex, layered sampling, then check out third-party samplers like Kontakt.

Just FYI, I believe DropZone just re-samples the sample to change pitch such that the duration (and the tempo of any intra-sample rhythmic pattern) is not preserved, so it might not be appropriate for all situations.

I'm looking to sample the singer's voice, then use midi to play the voice on different notes, almost like background vox. Is there a VST that you can buy that will do that in Sonar?

You could use V-Vocal for that, tho you'd have to do the shifting manually. Probably better results than simply resampling, especially since duration would have to remain intact (I'm assuming).

This suddenly makes me realize I wish you could map the transpose keyboard in v-vocal to a controller.

as already mentioned you could use dropzone , kontakt.. you could even use dim pro (but that involves a bit of text editing)

it depends on your budget and how extensively you use samples.. to me.. they are the same as a guitar / drums / piano to someone else.

computer music has  one included on the cover disk also ds-404

    http://vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php

    is a free one

I guess kontakt is industry standard like the akai was back in the day
