Here comes the fuzz
So far I've been getting along with X1 Producer really well. I've had some weird WTF moments here and there but so far not too bad, until today. I opened a new project to play around with Waves SuperTap. Now all my tracks have digital distortion no matter what project I open. The track where this started is peaking @ -9db. These .wav files sound fine using windows media player. I-Tunes sounds fine with the same sound card. Windows media player sounds fine with the same sound card. Everthing was working fine up until this point and I didn't change a thing. I'm using a Dell Studio 15 Laptop with an i5 processor and 4 megs of ram. The sound card I'm using right now is the on board WDM Realtec. I haven't plugged in my asio usb interface yet.

I used to use the onboard Realtec for "quick listens" when I couldn't be bothered to power up everything else, untill one day I got crackles and pops all over the audio from Sonar (and only Sonar) so I get there was some OS update that changed something but it's never worked since. Windowz sounds, media player, itunes, etc, still work fine though.

bluzdog The sound card I'm using right now is the on board WDM Realtec. Fer realz. The simple truth that cannot be stated enough is that you can't run a race car with a lawnmower engine. I mean sure, you can get it to get down the road, but if you wanna race you'll need some juice. You said you have an ASIO interface, it's time to install it and I will bet you my socks that once properly installed these probz will go away. ("these probz", I'm not liable for any new probz :-)

Yeah, I was being lazy just playin' with stuff at work. I haven't tried the usb interface since the fuzz incident. I'll try it tonight. Thanks for the replies.

These guys have it 100% right, I'd put my money on it - The onboard Realtek--HAHahahahaha-- The Fuzzinator, the Fuzzmachine, the FUzzzzzzorama. Plug in your real interface - all will be fine. --unless there's something funky-fuzzy about that copy of the Waves plug-in yer tryin' there. Randy B.

Nah...The waves plugs have been working fine. Its the Gold Bundle V8 wupped until 2012. It fuzzes with all plugs and/or no plugs. What gets my goat is that it worked fine for months. It's nice to edit on the go so I'm gonna try a system restore to see if something else mucked it up. The RealTec is garbage but useable on the go when it's not doing the Big Muff thing. Thanks for all the replies.

You guys were right. Plug in the USB interface and all is well. I tried a system restore for the on board card and it's still fuzzy. Thanks for the input.

And once your interface is working, I'd disable the on-board audio in BIOS. Audio bliss awaits you.
