Issue wiht X1 and new hardware

Hi All,
I just recently purchased an M-audio profire 2626 and having a bit of difficulty with it, and getting it to work properly within X1. For whatever reason, I can't get the guitars to pan left or right.. If I do a hard pan (100% left or right) the volume raises in 1 speaker, but there is still sound coming out of both(they still sound almost identical in volume). The Profire 2626 comes with a software mixer and this thing is beyond confusing!!!!  In the software mixer, if I pan the guitars left or right, it works..but if I do it in Sonar, it doesn't happen. Is there a way to make Sonar completely ignore the software mixer and use itself for this sort of thing?

I just switched from the fast track pro USB and I had absolutely no issues at all...then again, it was pretty basic and simple. I understand that this is a professional piece of equipment, but the software that installs with the profire is difficult to understand
(And yes, I have read the manual to resolve this many times..no luck) I had no idea it was going to be this complicated.  Within the software there is a router section where you can enable and disable analog ports and route them to the places you would like them to go. I am using the analog instrument port (port 1) on the front of the device, so in this routing tab, analog 1/2 are set to the "mixer out" which allows the output volume to be controlled by this main volume control (duh!)

The main issue here is the mixer.. Inside Sonar, I have the master bus set to "M-audio profire ASIO FW 2626 SW Return 1". There are 26 sends and returns in all which is seen by Sonar, so I disabled all but 1..which is software return 1...which is hopefully the only thing I would be getting. 1 input in, 1 input out..simple?!

I am beyond confused here.. I have looked all over the settings and see nothing about bypassing this mixer and using Sonar for the main control. If anyone has any suggestions, please help.

My system specs:
Win 7 x64
8gb ram
Intel dual quad I7 930 2.80ghz
Sonar X1

Thanks guys, really would appreciate the assistance.

I am sure  that someone will chime in that is more familiar with M-Audio... but it sounds like you have a stereo track in Sonar that is being output to two tracks in you audio mixer that are both panned to center (Instead of one left and right which would create create the behavior you are trying to acheive and also explain the behavior you are experiencing)

I think you are correct, but I am not sure on how to fix it. In order to properly pan, I had to make 2 tracks, one with the output of software return 1, and the 2nd with software return 2. On the M-audio mixer, I had to pan the 2 channels left and right and sonar picked it up... I just want to have the option to completely bypass this thing..

There are quite a few software returns (26 to be exact) and that can make things a bit confusing.. I hooked back up my fast track pro and everything sounds excellent!  So, hopefully someone who is familiar with the hardware can step in and see what I'm doing wrong.. If not, I may have to call M-audio and see if they can shed some light on the issue.
