Getting my first semi pro pre amp tomorrow!!!

Tomorrow my ART Pro Channel Tube Mic Preamp will be coming in the mail, the begining of my new vocal chain. It was packaged with an Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser Microphone, which is exciting since i've been using a MXL990 for the past 8yrs. I also picked up a MXL R40 Ribbon Microphone from Musician Friends stupid deal of the day. I'm looking forward to recording some vocals on a song I'm writing for my 3 month old son.

I think you will be happy with this one. Don't own it myself, but we had it in the music store I used to work at. Always considered it to be a sleeper, doesn't get a lot of comments on forums or trade press, but great performance and feature set for the money.

ART has a couple sleeper products. Well, I guess one of them, the Pro VLA II, isn't THAT much of a sleeper since a good number of folks who wold normally turn their nose up at something in that price range admit it's a really good bang for the buck product. Hopefully the tube pre will be the same for you.

I've had one for a couple of years and like it a lot, especially the preamp and the gain staging. I'm not crazy about the compressors or eq but they are decent after some tweaking.

Ya Art's Tube pre's and comps seem to be solid performers.

I did like the Pro Channel compressors more before I bought a used Rane DC-24 dual band and an old Symetrix 522. They seem to have quicker response than the ones in the Pro-C.
