MAster bus vanishes

I opened a project (after installing the lastest quick fix) and there is no master bus. there is nothing below the movable bar that separates the track pane from the bus pane. I insteted a regular bus, but I need to put the mastering compressor on the master bus and mix.

Where is my master bus?

"you sure its just not out of site..im sorry i had to ask?"

I've scrolled the bus pane all the way up and down and it's not there.
I even tried looking behind the refrigertator like my Mom always said, but again without success.

"is it not in the console view either..or just the track view?"

The console has a Master strip, but I like working in tracks and feel a little uncomfortable the bus just fibbled off that way. Might indicate some underlying problem, hey?

"..if not just insert a bus and name it master. "

. . . and it's output will be routed just as a master bus's would?
Am I making too much of this? Maybe a nap.

no your fine man...yes a master is in deed a bus..it what you ussualy send all your levels too as long as you set your i/o you will be fine.although i am a bit concerened with the majic act on the bus..its really strange it just disapears like that..but then again ive seen stranger things..once when i first got shs7xl.i was experimenting with the buses..id make one then delete it..just to see the behavior..i must have created a bus and deleted it 12 times..i know this because when i went to load the project the next day..sonar would not let me open it..it said"you need to open this project on a daw capible of handling more than 12 buses...lol..i didnt have any buses..?..so your problems is strange but not striking..let me know how it works out with the bus as your master..remember to name it master.if you delete the metrodone the same thing..just create a bus and name it metrodone..if you dont..it will be a plain old bus...but once you type the letters metrodone sonar turns it into your clicktrack..now that is strange.

I tried putting the linear mastering compressor i the new bus I named "Master" but when i hit play, I got this fusillade of real loud digital snapping, popping and distortion that continued a second or 2 after I hit "Stop"

So I ended up opening a new project, setting up its tracks, tempo, etc  to match the original, and Pains friggin Takingly copied every clip in the original to the new.

It works, so I deleted the offending projects and kept the new one. Rendered a mix and am moving on.

    Too much excitement.
