not able to export synth files

I have a project that contains some audio data and one instance of Kontakt 4 with Session Strings loaded. There are 4 midi tracks to this Kontakt instance.

I'd like to export each midi track separately, so I will have 4 audio tracks in the end. Also, I'd like to export only part of the midi track.

1. When I select part of the midi track (as I would select an audio track) and try to export it, Sonar tells me there is no audio data to export.

2. When I solo the Kontakt instance, select this and some audio data and export it to wave, Sonar exports an empty file.

3. When I solo the Kontakt instance and export the entire project (having chosen wave format!), Sonar exports to a w64 file.

Any ideas how I can simply export the midi tracks??

Mute all the MIDI track except for one. Then do a File > Export > Audio.

Do that for each MIDI track you want to export and that should work.

fixed, at least partly. I can export the whole midi project now, after a restart, without changing anything.

Native, from your original post, I'm understanding that you're wanting to end up with 4 audio tracks which are the recorded versions of 4 MIDI tracks.  I think that's right?

The error message about no audio happens when only the MIDI track has been selected but not its associated audio channel which is connected to the synth.

But there's no need to export the tracks, if you're wanting to do a mix of these tracks after they're rendered to audio.  Bounce the tracks down, and you save yourself the step of having to turn right around and importing the tracks.  Just select the whole lot, in the Bounce dialogue ask to bounce tracks - you'll get your 4 audio tracks right there in your project.  Then you'll want to mute and archive all those original tracks, turn off the synth, and continue your mixing work with the audio tracks.
