BRAWL AT THE RIVERDOME
The Willie Nelson Concert was awesome! He plays that guitar so well. What a musician,entertainer,and song writer. BUT that wasn't the highlight of the evening. When I got there I found that I didn't have front row center seats but 2nd row center seats. Well, the seats directly in front of me were empty. About 5 min into the concert 4 women came staggering in and sat in front of me drunk, screaming, basically showing their butt. Instead of sitting like everyone else they stood up and no one behind them could see.Boney told them to please sit down that she couldn't see what was going on behind them. One of them turned around and said she had the right to do whatever she wanted and that was her privilege for being front row and everyone behind her were SOL, then shot her the bird . Well, Boney didn't care for that and told her to sit the %$@)%down. At that moment Willie took off his bandana and threw it from the stage to Boney. Thankfully that took her attention away from the women. BUT the lady behind us didn't like what was going on and asked could we move aside for a second. She bent forward and told the 4 women SIT OR BE MOVED. They turned and screamed Go *%&yourself. THe lady behind Boney stood up bent forward grabbed the loudmouth by the hair and jerked SO hard I was amazed she didn't pull any hair out. Thus began GIRL FIGHT !!!! Willie, Bless His Heart, just kept on playing threw all this but watching like everyone else. I myself was RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF Them. Boobs in my face and back with them scratching,biting etc. Security came and after a minute or so drug them off. Willie still kept on playing! It was THE BEST CONCERT I"VE EVER BEEN TO!

I didn't think of that till after the event but I couldn't have taken any cuz of all the commotion. These women were well enhanced and didn't mind showing them.I WAS ENJOYING MYSELF! I was in the middle of them. I secretly have a special memory now of the moment What a concert! P.S. Boney gave her sister the bandana cuz of her LOVE of Willie. I was going to take a picture of it too. Boney put it on and wore it the rest of the night but gave it to her before we left.

Take away the mud and you can imagine my delight of the situation. Excuse my enthusiasm about it but I've never been in the middle of something like that. Once again ;

Still, I was hoping for some photos. Oh, well. Glad you had such a great time.

Surprising that the security didn't throw them out for fighting. All the shows I have been to recently (past several years) where you have purchased reserved seating.... the security folks keep stuff like that under control. Usually they don't mind the people standing but they keep them off the seats..... \ that sux when you gotta stand the whole show to see the show.... although when you do sit down, it's much quieter. I now prefer the lawn seats when I go unless I can get the front few rows.....

Herb, I think why security didn't throw them out was cuz they were big spenders at the casino. The Horseshoe gives complimentary tickets for shows to anyone spending big bucks. The woman sitting behind me did get thrown out but the 4 women that caused all of it was still walking around after the show. Oh yeah, Boney's sister won $27,000 on the slots an hour after the show. What a night for everyone!

I just found out there are more pictures from last night. I will post them when I get them. One other thing about last night. There was a guy with the four girls that didn't sit down and was smoking a cigar. There are signs posted everywhere about no smoking and security told him to put it out. He stood in front of the stage,this was just before the concert, and ignored them. He casually walked around then left without ever putting it out. Guess you have to know somebody.

Bayoubill, I wish the front row brawls I've had to live through had been good old fashioned cat fights like the one you got to enjoy. The last one I had to put up with was when the Rolling Stones did their last ever show in the Astrodome back in the late 80's. Me and my wife and some friends had a group of seats on the second row of one of the box levels a few stories up from the field. When we sat down we were thrilled with the huge view of the dome, the stage, the jumbo tron videos, etc.. Really cool and we were excited about the spectacle. Five 20-something knuckleheads came and sat down right in front of us. When the lights went down and the Stones came out they stood up like a wall, crossed their arms over their chests and stood rock solid still like some kind of honor guard. The only thing any of us could see was "Levi's 34W 34L" We asked them to sit down and got hard stares in reply. We asked them again and were told that they paid for the seats and could stand up if they wanted to. Soon the people behind us were yelling at them to sit down. They just stood there. I mean it would have been a little easier to understand if they were at least grooving around a bit. But they just stood there. A guy behind me started poking me on she shoulder and telling my I'd better get my "friends" to sit down. Finally, someone a couple rows behind us threw a full cup of beer at them. SPLAT! Beer went everywhere. They turned around and got ready to fight with me and my friends. I pointed out that I caught more beer than they did and obviously didn't throw it. The airborne beer was all it took to bring the ushers and the cops into our area. A not very friendly HPD officer read them and all of us the riot act. Any more flying objects or liquids going over the balcony and we would all be removed. They sat down and then got up and left after a few minutes. Never to be seen again. I enjoyed the rest of the show with beer drying in my hair. What is it about the front row area that always attracts someone who wants to be part of the show?

Hey Gil! I have always been on the stage and witnessed mayhem and in Texas in the old days some had the chicken wire completely around the stage. Beer bottles flying kind of things. That night no one got hurt except one lady got her hair yanked really hard at the beginning. I really did enjoy the moment. I don't know if I should feel bad about that cuz I know it ruined the evening for Willie and some folks. What I will remember from that concert more than the girl fight is the way Willie played his guitar that night. He was ON. The band guys could feel it too and Willie took some extended rides. I wish everyone could have seen that show. Willie Nelson is a special man and I consider him a National Treasure.

He is a national treasure. I know a couple of people, including my father, that have had the pleasure of meeting Willie at various charity events in and around Austin. My father, a close clipped conservative guy in his 80's, told me that Willie had to be one of the nicest men he had ever met. Very warm and friendly and extremely well informed. My dad now has a framed picture of the two of them standing together, both wearing conservative looking grey suits. Willie sporting long braids and a genuine smile. Speaking of his guitar work, I have a CD called "Twisted Willie" that has tributes from a lot of alternative bands. The Grrrl group L7 played with him on their version of 3 Days. When interviewed about the recording session the girls mentioned being shocked and impressed at his skills on guitar. "I had no idea he could rip like that," one of them said. :-0! Never underestimate a fella with 20,000 hours of experience.
