OCD Pedal

I have been reading and watching some video on the Fulltone OCD pedal.  Does it work with a Behringer GMX 110 Amp?
I keep see references to tube amps.  Thanks.

I have an OCD pedal that I use a lot. I use it in front of a tube amp so I can't really comment on how it will perform with a solid state. Its got a pretty good volume boost built into which might not make a solide state amp too happy. The drive itself should sound not too bad.

I have my OCD mounted on my pedalboard sideways.

While we are on the subject of overdrives, I played a Wampler Extacy the other day that was really *really* nice.

I don't know about the OCD specifically, but the basic idea behind all "overdrive" pedals (vs. "distortion" or "fuzz" pedals) is to overdrive your amp's front end as much as they add distortion on their own. Since OD's enhance the distortion characteristics of your amp, they tend to be disappointing with disappointing amps and great with great amps. So it really depends on how much you already like the sound of your amp...

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

I use my OCD into a completely clean tube amp (Egnater Tweaker) and it sounds great for anything from light breakup to mid gain stuff.  It'll do classic rock too, but I have better pedals for higher gain.

I know some have mentioned that overdrives are designed to go into a slightly driven tube amp, but this particular pedal works well into a clean amp, much better than the Keeley Baked TS-9 I replaced with it.  I generally have it on light gain and use my Riot for the classic hi-gain and a Wampler Triple Wreck for modern metal sounds.  The OCD is also nice for taking the Riot over the edge for ultra hi-gain leads, but I don't find I really need to do that very much... just when feeling particularly evil.

Can't really say for sure how it would sound into a clean solid state amp as I haven't really tried it, I imagine it would work OK.

They call 'em fingers, but I've never seen 'em fing.

I've been playing with my OCD4 a bit here lately, using an 18v power supply, for the moment into my 70's Vibrochamp since I returned my Night Train for replacement. It's quite nice I think. With a Strat particularly there are some pretty classic tones in there.
