Sonar crashes when exporting audio
when I export a project, X1 crashes halfway through exporting. When I freeze several tracks before the export, it does not crash. could that be related to buffer size? or to a plugin?

also crashes in other situations. Does X1 write some sort of error report, when it crashes (on Win 7 ) ?

Would you give some info to make answering possible? The fact that freezing helps makes me think it's your computers resources that are lacking. I don't know about the error report.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

what kind of information would you think is needed? I run X1 64bit on Win7 64bit, a 3.1GHZ Intel Quad Core, 8GB RAM - I don't think it's pc resources.

native I don't think it's pc resources. Obviously not, but how could we have known? How big a project? Does it happen with all projects? Which plugins are you using / how many instances? Have you installed 64 bit version of SONAR? Are there 64 bit versions of the plugins you use or is BitBridge or JBridge involved? The other crash-situations you mention, are they random or is there a pattern? What soundcard are you using and what driver type? Is there lots of other programs running simultaneously? What about cooling of the PC? Overheating can cause strange things. Faulty memory combs are known to cause weird behaviour, too. There's a software for checking the condition of them, but I don't remember the name of it now ( Memcheck??) :o/.

the project is rather big: it's about 50 tracks, and 16 songs loaded (it's a live recording). I have only experienced it with this project, though it's the first full-blown project I have been using X1 for. there are several plugins in use all over the project: EQ: Stillwell 1973, DDMF IIEQPro Comp: Stillwell Rocket, MKDensity, PSP OldTimer, Stillwell Event Horizon Verbs: Redline Reverb, Reverberate Tape Sim: JB Ferox, FericTDS, TesslaSE Guitar Rig 4 on the bass track Stillwell Transient Monster, ProChannel for low cuts yes, Sonar 64bit. I think most plugins are 64bit, though I think to remember that one or two might not, so BitBridge could be involved. I could not identify any pattern, seemed random to me. Using a Saffire Pro 40, Asio driver. Usually no other programmes are running, except maybe Firefox. Nothing else is installed anyway, I use this machine only for audio purposes. Cooling should be fine; I invested some money in good (and quiet) fans and tower. Memory is worth checking. The pc is completely new, so it's at least unlikely, but certainly not impossible. Will check that. I could not find any pattern, seemed random to me

The size of the project is respectable because of the length. I can't actually figure out how exactly the sheer "data-mass" could exhaust the computer to crashing. I have read about VSTs which have a memory leak that suffocates the machine gradually. IIUC it can be seen watching the task manager during the export. I'm not expert enough to say more. Could you not slice the project by song and export each song separately? Burned on a CD without the pause between tracks they would play seamlessly.

did you ever resolve this? I have had this problem with large projects and had to choose to not use the fast bounce option.
