Get the full Rapture for free!

..but ONLY if you buy X1 now... what do the "long-term beta testers" on this forum get for their loyalty? Any ideas, mr marketing manager? This is like the cellphone networks - the good deals are only for the new customers.

I really think CW would do well to tip their hat to the die-hard users somehow, just because we don't HAVE to be around but choose to. :O)

Just a thought..

Good point. Still, Ill never knock them for offering something they didnt offer before.

My big thing is, when I read this new offer, the date were 2010... Was this deal there the whole time when sonar came out?

Of course I want CW to grow as well and offer sweet deals to all. But how about "Dear loyal user - please find in your download area a freebee just because you're awesome!" :O) Right now, the new X1 user will have a (slightly) higher spec'd DAW than the guys who jumped in first. Just feels wrong IMO. But then, it's just My Opinion :O)

I agree that as much grief as we got with X1 not being up to grade on release we should get something really nice in our download area. Maybe a new synth, or new audio plug. Something NEW! Not something old that they are going to dis-continue next version.

That's the chance you take with each marketing ploy. I remember in August or so of last year I almost upgraded from 8 to 8.5 because the price was so ridiculously cheap. But I knew if I did the next Sonar would be right around the corner and I probably would have lost a few bucks.
The only reason I jumped on X1 is because I fell for the 15% off. I spent $120 instead of $150. I'm sure if I would have waited X1 would eventually be cheaper for me, especially when X2 is close. That's just the nature of the game.
I wouldn't take offense at it.

+1.  Seems like so many companies put all their resources into getting new customers and do little to retain loyal customers.

How about a trade in I have three Dimension pro licences, one from SONAR 8, one from SONAR 8.5 and one from SONAR X1.

One is unregistered because I had no need to install it, how about swapping one for a full rapture licence?

Yeah but you're always going to have that when you create a marketing deal. You have to put a date on it and then there are people 1-day on the wrong side.

I'm "meh" about it. I already have Rapture and what we "long term beta testers" get is having gotten to use X1 since its release up until right now. If those kinds of things concern you, hold off on upgrading until you see the deal you want.

Well, I think the general consensus on this forum is that the first guys to jump in didn't get much out of it - other than bug spotting the product for CW :O)  Anyhoo, I'm very happy with my X1 and this wasn't started as an antagonistic thread. However, I'm also a champion for consumer issues and this kind of thing is by no means unique to one type of product or service. Was really just an observation.

Haha, yeah there is that argument, for this release in particular it actually has a little weight (because people say that EVERY release).

But hey, I'm still good. It was a frustrating .0 release but the patches came, and the quickfix stuff really sealed the deal.

I'm churning out the good here as well - 246 sits better than 8.5.3 ever did, and I loved that build.

Could be worse, there are those among us who paid full price for Rapture and Dimension Pro before CW decided to bundle with Producer. I guess that means I have four Dimension Pro licenses.
