Drum map setup - following Beagle's tutorial

Beagle posted the following link to his Drum Map tutorial (which is very well done):

http://z8.invisionfree.co...index.php?showtopic=74

I have a question: At the 4th graphic, showing the results of selecting "GM Drums (Complete Kit)", the output port for each note is TTS-1.  When I do that on my system the output port for every note is set to my hardware midi interface.  I figure that the drum map manager uses the first midi device specified in my system.  That would be OK if there were a way to change all the output ports for all the midi notes in the map in one fell swoop.  I haven't found a way to do that.

Is there a way to change the output port for all the notes at once?

Go to Options>MIDI Devices, and uncheck all MIDI Outputs.
With no other options, this should force the map to TTS-1.

    RobertB,

Your workaround is useful for special cases only.

I wouldn't think it is rare that someone would use external midi devices and soft synths at the same time.

Or use two or more soft synths at the same time.

So I think a way to change the output port for all the notes in the drum map is needed, or at least highly desirable.

I wish there was a way to do that as well.  I really really REALLY want cake to fix this in the future, although I've been wanting that for what, 5 versions now?

make sure you submit a feature request for this because it really needs to be done!!!!

Here's the feature request description I submitted:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the Drum Manager, after selecting a preset the out port for each note in the map is set to the same value.  Often, the out port for every note must be changed to what the user desires.  This is very tedious and time consuming.

The new feature should allow all, or ranges of notes (including discontiguous ranges) to be selected and then allow a new out port setting to be made for all the selected notes.

    Thanks,
    Larry

    good deal!

I asked for more than that!  I said we needed full easy menu driven editing capability with the ability to edit any of the parameters in the DM manager with pull down menus and full clickable selections of any combination of notes to edit!
