Removing empty measures?

I remember seeing someting about this before but I wanted to get specific.  I have a 24 track song I'm working on.  I've decided that a section of the song, 8 measures, needs to be removed.  There are some tracks that are empty DURING those 8 measures.  How do I slice out those 8 measures across all 24 tracks including the tracks with no data at that specific point.  I want to have the whole song shift over to fill the hole when the 8 measures are cut.

RAWK!!!

First select all tracks, Set the from point and the to point. Concerning the to point, I always set snap to measures and then backup to the tick before the measure I want to keep. Otherwise, it will chop off the first notes of the measure you want to keep. Now, just the section you want to delete for all tracks should be darkened. If you use the Smart Tool, right click anywhere on the darkened tracks. You should see edit, there will be a dropdown menu. On that menu you will see delete. Click! It will ask you if you want to shift everything over. Check that. Hit OK. If you did it correctly. That should delete all highlighted areas and automatically shift everything over. Good Luck

Hey, I'm trying to delete one empty measure - only two tracks. I highlight it for both tracks, but the delete option under edit is grayed out and won't let me! Does there have to be data before it even lets you delete a measure???
