mouse scrolling eratic

i know this is a corny post but seriously..i got this rocketfish 2.40ghz mouse at best buy and just recently the scrolling has gone batty...when i scroll up or down it goes for a few inches then spuraticlt goes up and down...then goes down(as normal)..then does the up/down thing again..plugged in another mouse and it works fine..but that other mouse doesnt have the sid 2 side scrolling need for timeline production.any thoughts?

I have the same thing with an MS mouse.  I think it's because of USB.  I'd prefer to have a PS2 mouse, but they're getting harder to find.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

I use a USB mouse and don't have that problem at all at home.  but I do have ONE computer at work which has a USB mouse and it does do that.  I"m not sure what the difference is, except I do have that one at work going thru a couple of connectors before it gets to the computer.  I thought it was probably a low voltage problem there because of the connectors.

I've never had that problem with my mouse at home/DAW tho.

I don't use wireless, tho, because I've had problems with those.  I currently have a wireless keyboard, but not a mouse.  I don't even like having a wireless keyboard, but it was the only one with the features I wanted in the price I was willing to pay!

my big complaint is the cursor jumping around the text that I'm typing ...... I think it's related to the touch pad......

yes the low battery thing was first on my lists of could be's..and i do have my mouse plugged in to a hub with other things...it probably is voltage...though it did work before..maybe its just caught up to me.
