Why does it go to mono when I send something to a bus?

This is driving me crazy guys! When I did my first mix on Sonar, I realized that it was coming out in mono. Then, I noticed that it seemed to happen whenever I sent something through a bus, rather than direct to the main outputs of my audio card. I was able to get the proper stereo spread back once I routed everything direct to the main outs.

Then, I carefully started to set up my buses again. I made sure that they were all stereo buses, that the panning was set correctly on all the individual tracks, that there were no mono FX in the buses. But now I'm back to getting mono out of all the buses! Aaaargh!!!

What could be doing this? I really want to have separate buses set up, not only for the effects, but for the guitars and strings, as well. Can anybody help me, please?

    This has never happened to me, so I might not be much help.

    There is a stereo/mono button on each bus.  It is just under the mute and solo buttons.  Are you sure it is set to stereo?

    There are 2 pan knobs on each bus.  are they set as you want them to be?

    i only have one pan knob..and it goes either right or left.

    That's it!!!! I saw that stereo button and confused it with the "input echo" button, so routinely turned it off. As soon as I switched it back on, the stereo mix came back!

    Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I thought they were going to have to stick me in a rubber room! This really had me pulling my hair out!
