MC5 Comparison Chart?
Hi, I just read about the great upgrade deal on MC5 - less than $20. I couldn't find on the site anywhere a comparison chart for MC5 or the manual. I'm wondering about the maximum number of audio and midi tracks, buses, audio and midi effects, instruments etc. Anyone know where to find this info? Thanks, J BTW, in the thread 'How Does MC5 Measure Up?' Kate gives a link to a comparison chart, but the link appears to be dead.

Here's one: Box vs Download IIRC.... MC5 supports 48 audio tracks and 256 midi tracks. You can record TWO tracks at the same time with MC5 You can have up to 8 synths in the synth rack at a time. Cake is all the time, changing the pages in the website so an active link 2 weeks ago might be a dead end today. WOW! I wasn't aware Cake did upgrades to MC5 for under $20 but man, if that is truly from CAKE and not some rip site on the net, that is a deal for real.

Thanks for that link Herb ... very helpful. Yes, it's a great deal on MC5. It's from Cakewalk alright. If you go to: http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2bus/category.asp scroll down to Music Creator 5 Download, click Add to Cart, and enter the promo code 'MC5upgrade', the price comes out at $19.99. I was interested to see that MC5 increases the number of audio and midi tracks compared with MC4 - not that I'll need them with my present PC, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't fewer. Hi Beagle ... there is no mention of what the upgrade is from. I'm hoping to upgrade from MC4. J After posting the message I tried the above link, and it didn't work. Alternatively, just go to Cakewalk>Cakewalk Store>Buy Music Creator 5.

If you have MC4 (as I do) all you really need MC5 for is the sound center. IMHO MC5's sound center (SC) is worth the price of the upgrade by itself. I have both MC4 & MC5.... I continue to use MC4 since I really love the GUI and understand it. ALL of the things in MC5 will run perfectly in MC4.

The upgrade is available to anyone that presently owns an earlier version of Music Creator. What has not been clearly explained is if the upgrade special pricing is available for both the boxed version (which normally contains additional content) and the download version or if the promotion will just be applied toward the purchase of the download version. The last two Cakewalk newsletters I've received mentioned the MC5 upgrade special. I've copied part of the most recent newsletter below. In addition to receiving notification of special promotions, Cakewalk's newsletter sometimes provides links to free goodies such as free software downloads, backing tracks, etc. Special offer: Get Music Creator 5 for only $19.99/£14.99/€19.99 For the first time ever, we are offering any Music Creator customer the opportunity to upgrade to Music Creator 5 for only $19.99/£14.99/€19.99 - save $15/£15/€14 off the regular price. Through May 20th you can add Music Creator 5 to your shopping cart and then use the promo code MC5upgrade to get the instant savings. Music Creator 5 is the latest and great version of this beginner level recording software. Even though it's easy-to-use, Music Creator 5 comes with powerful features that will get you pro results fast. Highlights: Easy-to-use interface, handy assistant tools, and track templates New Loop Explorer to quickly preview and drag-and-drop audio loops and MIDI patterns High-quality sounds using Cakewalk Sound Center virtual instrument Your own drummer with included Studio Instruments Drums Powerful onscreen mixer with support for Active Controller Technology Amplitube® X-GEAR for superbly modeled amps, effects, mic models, cabinets, tuner, more 10 high-quality studio effects for recording and mixing And much more PLUS: Use your instant savings towards Music Creator 5 bundles You can download Music Creator 5 instantly but Music Creator 5 is also included in bundles with other products that will already save you money (and available as downloads). We just upgraded. Saved 19.99 on the boxed version. So it costs a few dollars more (plus shipping), but worth it in my opinion.

NOW>>>> when it arrives and you install it, go to the cake support page and get the FREE update for MC5, since it also contains an update to the sound center and includes more instruments.
