Help with signal but no sound

Hi folks,

I have sonar X1. My template is the Normal template that comes with sonar and i choose the tts-1 to hear some tones etc. However when i created a new midi track for the session drummer, i cannot hear anything from the midi track that was opened with the template. (I also opened two other midi tracks from the tts-1)
I am hearing those two other tracks but nothing from that particular one track and i placed the piano on it.

Just asking for some help please....

if the midi tracks output are st correctly to the soft sythn you want - you should hear the sound -

if you are trying to hear the sounds from a controller into sonar - make sure the inputs to that track and set to your controller -

if that doesn't work - email the guys in the picture below - and they can help you further - they have the list - and they have stopped electric cars from being massed produced -

they could easily help you with your sonar issues

    Hi Carla...welcome to the forum!!
Check & see if the tts-1 tracks have the :Input Echo" to ON (actually, make sure all your midi tracks that have a soft synth inserted the "Input Echo" is ON.)

    That's interesting Mooch.....
I just tried what you're talking about (with 2 midi tracks) and if input echo is unchecked and nothing is recorded yet: Sonar will play both midi tracks until I click on one of the tracks (click anywhere around the fx box), then it will only play the other track and visa-versa. So, if you have multiple softsynths, only the track you've clicked on will play.
When the input echo is on for all the tracks with soft synths, they'll all play.

ya - right - while I am tracking - - input echo just gets in the way of latency issues - and I can hear the sythn as you say - if its clicked or selected while I am recording

while I mixing I hear all the sythn - and nothing with input echo is on - midi or audio -

perhaps my computer is not fast enough - but that input echo thing - I've always looked at as "the annoying echo latency" button

just me though - other people I can see find it useful

I find it very useful when I want to "layer" a bunch of synths which gives me a really phat/FAT sound!! (not to mention unique sound and add an ARP to it........WOWZA!!).

Boy did Carla enter the wrong forum!

Carla, this is the General Discussion forum, otherwise known as the lunatic asylum Coffee House.
    The X1 forum is upstairs.
But, I assume X1 comes with Session Drummer 3? If it's similar to SD 2, you have to load drum samples in order to hear the drums.
