Processor scheduling (win7) - Background services or programs ?

I noted on Avid website that Pro Tools 9 would run more smoothly when choosing ''Background services'' (rather than ''Programs'') in Processor scheduling.  Is this an assumption that I should also apply for Sonar X1 (and 8.5.3) ? I have PT9 but work 90% of the time with Sonar for now.

Thanks,
Rob

Noel Borthwick previously stated that, for SONAR, we should not do that tweak, and should leave it at Programs.  The advice was for SONAR 8 or maybe 7; it's been awhile.  So, we don't know if it still applies to X1.

background services include your audio drivers. asio drivers run in the background,  so i would suggest setting it to that.

Maybe Sonar works directly, by-passing some of the operating system services.

It should be set for "Background Services", esp when using ASIO drivers. I've been doing this tweak since XP and SONAR 2.2

Things have changed a good bit since WIN XP and SONAR 2.2.

    As was already stated.

Noel Borthwich (Cakewalk's chief Technical Officer) said that while it was necessary with previous versions of SONAR and OS's, it was no longer necessary to set Processor Scheduling to run as a Background Service.

With SONAR X1 - WIN 7 set Processor Scheduling to Programs.

Noel's statement about Processor Scheduling can be found in this thread:
    http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1238330
It was within the context of running Sonar 7PE in Windows XP.
