Did you ever have a Banana Bike???

Cause I did...and now I've chronicled it's effect on me.  Sad, sad, sad...

No gears or handbrakes on mine...I had the "nekkid" version.

We had these in the UK instead.

I'm guessing that is the equivalent anyway.

    I like the tune.

It's got a Village People 'Go West' triumphant type vibe to it.

Swizzel Stick is my favourite out of that trio you have there though.

That's hilarious, and great. I was indeed king of my world on my banana bike.
It was a '68 Raleigh Rodeo, forerunner to the Chopper Jonbouy showed.
    Just like this one:
    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/catfoodrob/choppers/history/history10.html

Mine was gold, with a white seat. it had the Sturmey-Archer internal gearbox in the rear hub.
I recall that huge shift lever catching my attention a time or two

I got it in Germany, and it traveled to Florida, and finally to Colorado, where the gearbox eventually gave up after several years of racing the wind and riding up and down stairs.

It was meant in a good and chart-topping kind of way... and of course with love...

I'm surprised you don't post more stuff in that bullring here called the songs forum.  You have much to offer that community in the way of expertise, talent and all round good stuff.

On my 6th or 7th birthday, my father gave me a used bike he had fixed up with a banana seat and goose-neck handlebars. He shined it up all nice and pretty. My first bike! it was great.
    It was stolen that night.
In 1968, I got a new Huffy, stock with the banana seat and 'bars. Thirty-nine bucks from K-Mart. I'm proud to say I put it together myself, with my dad handing me the tools. I rode that thing all over Frankfurt when we were there. It was stolen in 1972.

I remember having a green 3-speed back in the 60's for a while with a banana seat, but it wasn't long after that that I just had to get a motocross bike (even then my buying decisions were already being influenced by what others thought was "in" or cool - I'm glad I'm finally over that, what I "need" is so much cheaper!).

Ol'PAl, I ventured upstairs , with trepidation, and landed on your (sound)cloud.
I enjoyed the banana bike ride, it evoked a feeling of a soundtrack theme for a sci-fi or adventure movie , especially the change to the 3rd and the chorale responses.

I  built my own from parts we found laying around. Actually turned out pretty well. We found that you could saw off the forks from on bike and hammer them to the forks of another bike. I could go with three sets and still ride mine.Painted it and had the long "sissy bar".....

My banana seat was a leopard print.  Oh yeah.  Long forks on the front and a fat slick on the back.  Yeah.  It still wasn't fast enough to get away from the neighborhood kids, though.  At least it gave me the feeling that I had a chance.

    Myolpal I had a fantastic Schwinn Sting-Ray.
It was ALL chrome with a white seat and red flames.
It had a cheater slick ( slick with two grooves) hand brakes
and a three-speed right hand grip controller.

I had a paper route and saved to pay cash for it.
I bought it and rode it out of the store to my house
about 8 miles away....I'll never forget that ride.
I lived on that bike for a few years. Wish I still had it.

Got a kick out of your tune too.

mine was almost exatly like this except it had a black seat and it was orange instead of red.  but there were no gears and no hand brakes, just the "reverse pedal" brake.

I rode that bike everywhere.  into town, on a paper route when I was 10 thru 12 years old...
