Is Ctrl D working in X1 ? Is LP64 knowen to cause latency ?

Hi Guys

Tryed to run a session tonight to quickly put down some band song Ideas and started with Steven Slate drums had no latency

I added in a bass track and guitar track and put on LP64 with bass boost and also added another guitar track

Straight after this my bass player and guitarist had latency no matter how low my buffer setting was

I never get latency even at 7.2ms and big sessions so this was a bit strange. ( I was half asleep and not thinking straight aswell so Ive probably done something to cause it )

Could it have been the LP64 causeing this since it was fine before adding that in ?

Also can any one tell me if the short cut CTRL D that is the plugin delay compensation override still work in X1 or is there now a different way to do this ?

I didnt have much of a chance to try and correct the problem as I was in a rush so I just went back to Sonar 8.5 and didnt use the LP64 incase of any problems

Thanks for any info on this

Norrie

Yes LP64 requires delay compensation, and will add latency. It's best used a mastering plug after tracking is complete.

I believe Ctrl-D is still the PDC bypass shortcut, but keep in mind that it can't help on the track that has the plug on it - it can only disable the compensation that's applied to other input monitored tracks to keep them in sync with the plug-delayed track.

If your bass player and guitarist can stand just playing music without hearing the effects while recording, it's always the best way to go.  Some plug-ins introduce more latency than others, but all are best used during mixing, when the basic, raw musical material is on the tracks and ready to be produced.  My suggestion being that maybe it's not as sexy, but it's more practical to record raw without relying on effects.

My first job when I'm about to track anything via a microphone is to quicky disable all plugs.
