Fab Filter Pro-G Gate supposedly out Tomorrow...
Watch the demo on YouTube. Like everything else they make this looks killer diller. My credit card's already out of my wallet, layin on the desk and cryin like a baby.

Oh, come on...surely your GAS affliction is not so acute that you get excited about a friggin' gate? I'm sure it's great; everything they do is great. But if it's priced like their other products...

Two things: One, this is no ordinary gate (plus I'm not sure most folks realize how important accurate and smooth gating is to modern music and what all can be done with one...no slight, Bit ol pal, just an observation:-) And two, since I own most of their stuff my price is fairly low;-) Check out the video tutorial on YouTube. It's an eye opener. Honest.

I watched the video, and yes indeed that's gotta be the ultimate gate. I expected nothing less from FF. But too pricey for me.

I know what you mean...It would be for me too if I wasn't getting my group discount and even then it's $4 bucks over my cut-off...but heck...it's FABFILTER. And I'm one sick GAS ridden puppy:-)

It looks pretty cool, although, even owning the Total Bundle, I think they offer me a 40% discount.. can't afford it right now

Maybe one of you guys can answer this... I was just thinking, I watched the video for Fabfilter's Pro-G, it seems to me that this gate can act as a transient designer in some ways? Does that make sense? Or am I missing the mark on this? (I realize it does a lot of other things too)

But you'll have to use the "mid-side" setting.

It's an eye opener. Honest. I never really use a gate. I thought it was mainly just for real recordings to get rid of low level background noise. I guess you could also use it so a delay didn't go so long. Am I missing something?

Yes...and I don't know how to say this any nicer...you are missing quite a bit. A good gate is essential to recording/mixing/mastering music of any kind but especially modern rock and electronica. I strongly suggest you watch the video on YouTube of the Pro-G tutorial and you'll quickly see just some of the myriad uses a good gate has. And this is not merely a good gate...this is a phenomenal gate!

Good post mr yorolpal! I watched this video and was impressed with the information and the education as well. While I might not bit on this deal, I am going to play more with my gates and see what they can do. Again, a good learning video and helpful post! C2

Check out all the videos on the FabFilter site. Not only do they sell the products well, they are also educational even if you have no intention of buying them. The Pro-Q video is especially good.

Just used YouTube Downloader to save all 16 FabFilter videos so I can watch them without pauses in HD. The comments alone seem to support that these will be worth watching. See you in a couple of (hopefully educational) hours!

Wow... Looks like I'm going to be out some more money (once I'm actually able to start paying myself next month that is!). Those plug-ins all look fabulous! I love some of the new angles that I hadn't seen before like "Mid-Side" and affecting one track based on the setting for another. There's plenty of educational value there too so I'll be keeping these for reviewing once I'm more familiar with each plug-in. I'm guessing they were only scratching the surface as well... That said, this definitely reminds me that I need to add a noise-gate to the voice-overs I'm doing right now. Those 92 fans on my studio box are NOISY!!! (Ok, so there's "only" nine fans, but still...)
