Adjusting just Velocity in Piano roll (Drums)
I layed out a drum truck with EZ Drummer in S8. On just the rolls or fills in the midi tracks, the velocity for some reason jumps from 60 to 85. I want to bring those back down. I am in Piano Roll, how do i select just the velocity tails to drag them back down without dropping new notes into the grid?
When I even I try to it keeps adding notes (drum hits).

I'm not much help, I can't remember how to tell you how to edit velocities in PRV without doing it and I don't have it with me. I do stuff like this just by memory but I can't remember how to tell you what that is. maybe someone will see this question now that i've bumped it for you. if not, I can try to remember to check this out when I am at home and have time to look at it.

In PRV, click on the D key on your keyboard to select the Draw tool.
Then, hover over the offending note until the cursor changes to a funny little icon that looks like an arrow with level lines drawn underneath.
Left-click when you are seeing that icon, and drag up to increase or drag down to decrease the velocity.
I will REALLY help if you zoom in and make the notes wider and taller, because the area on the note display where the velocity edit happens is near the top of the note.
You can see this in Options: PRV Settings. I think it's Settings but if might be Configure. It is definitely PRV.

Seems to me that you right click on the note in question with the pointer tool. That will display the properties for the note is question. Then adjust velocity, length, etc...
If you use the draw tool it will add notes.
This is pretty much automatic for me so if I've forgotten the details, sorry.

The easiest way IMO is to select just the notes you want to decrease. Either use the select tool or click on the piano note that corresponds to the offending notes, and then use interpolate. There is a bug in it though. You have to change the value all the way on the right in the velocity strip to something manageable like 200. Then just click OK and when the next window pops up, change the low and high velocity values to 60.

There are different ways you can do this. One is to select the notes you want to change and go to Process>Scale Velocity. There you can change them all to one velocity, or change them by percentage, or change them so they get louder from start to finish, or quieter. Setting both the Begin and End values at 71 with percentages enabled will bring 85 down to 60. You can also select the notes you want changed and use the Event Inspector. Just type the value you want in the VEL box and hit Enter. Another way is to position the Draw Tool in front of the notes you want to change, press down the Ctrl and Shift Buttons, then click and drag the mouse across the velocities you want changed. The Draw tool will act as a Line Tool so if you start at 60, and let go at 60, all the velocities in between will be changed to 60. Also, if you want to draw velocities in the PRV it is best to have the Controller Pane enabled and do it there.

In version 6 it was possible to grab the top of a velocity tail and drag it up or down to adjust the height. I used to use this facility all the time and I was surprised and annoyed to find that it was no longer possible after upgrading to version 7.

There's a way using interpolate. Select notes with velocity 85 and change them all to 40 or whatever you want.

Yes, you can use interpolate and/or filter but you don't need to get that involved.
You really only need one tool in PV. Whatever the default tool is called.
select the notes. then hold 'alt', and hover around the notes. you'll see it changing to different things.
Experiment till you find the velocity thingy, then drag down to where you want it.

Or try hitting " S " on the keyboard ( this will change to the select tool ) you can lasso all offending notes , once selected you can use the mouse to simply drag on the velocity markers in the control pane. You can cover a pretty wide area by zooming out sufficiently. It's very efficient for knocking large areas. THe nice thing about this method is that it keeps the relative differences of velocities intact.

Ok... I think this is the easiest. Use Edit/Select to select all notes with velocity 85 to 127. Then use Process/Scale Velocity and you can either trim them exactly (to 50, say) or by percentage. If it is multiple tracks just select multiple tracks to begin with.

Yet another useful tool to consider is under Midi Fx, called, I think, Midi Velocity.
You can have some great fun with this little feature.

Have you assigned the Midi drum track to a drum map? If not, click the output of the Midi track and assign the output to the drum map of the drum soft synth you are using. I do this by clicking New Drum Map and browsing to Session Drummer 2. A shortcut is to hover the cursor over New Drum Map and enter the first letter of the drum synth. Otherwise there's a lot of scrolling involved. This drum map will show velocity tails.
