Recording guitar at half-speed
So, I have an idea with 2 guitars layered, both playing a harmonizing melody using tremolo picking (think speed metal). I am able to play this normally; but for the sake of saving myself time from attempting to play it perfectly, I would rather record it while playing at half speed, and then speed it up afterwards in the software. I know this is possible, I just haven't figured out how to yet. Any ideas?

I'm thinking of using Audiosnap to cut and paste parts of the audio closer together (hoping to effectively turn consistent eighth notes into sixteenth notes, or faster).

Record it at normal speed in sections using layers/looping/punching and comp them together afterwards.
You're going to get MASSIVE tonal variations playing it at half speed and attempting to double the speed afterwards (IMHO)

Enable audio snap on the recorded clip. Drag the clip smaller (to increase speed). Bounce the clip to a new clip/track to apply the High Quality time shift algorythm.

Do you need to do it half-speed? What about 3/4-speed? So the tonal variations Jonesey mentioned would be smaller.
Using Audio Snap does not include any cutting and pasting.

Or... just learn to play it normally, at full speed.
YOU will be so much more pleased with it, knowing it isn't 'doctored'

George Harrison recorded the solo in A Hard Days Night at half speed. A mathematician by the name of Jason Brown showed via Fourier Transform ... that the George Martin unison piano solo was played in the lower octave. Or do it at 1/2 speed on a keyboard :-) And then use a program, as opposed to a real guitar to record it? And then mail your balls in to the nearest goodwill center?
