Search the forum and you'll find innnumerable posts on how to install and use a free encoder such as Lame.  Your Sonar install extras disk provides some profiles to help use Lame.

He probably did but joined here Mar 28 so is now over the 30day.

If you buy the Cakewalk version and you are running 64bit you will need to send them an Email to receive the download unlock for the 64bit as well.

lame is a good option i totaly forgot about..it is free.its a little tricky to put in but not if you know what your doing..there is a few threads on here instructing how lame is installed..it will take you 10 minutes to figure out and install..either that or use yahoo jukebox or apple i tunes as your converter.do a google search on that and youll see that is a second option that also works when in a bind

I went ahead and just purchased the mp3 encoder from Cakewalk. I downloaded it, but when I go to save a file I don't get the option of saving it as an mp3. Am I missing something?

    Running Windows 7.

    Any info would be helpful.

    Thanks

If your're using SONAR X1 x64, you have to contact Cakewalk for the x64 version of the Cakewalk MP3 Encoder Activator. The one you download, initially, is usually for the x86 version of SONAR.

When you choose to export a project, a dialog box comes up, and from there you have to select what format you want to export as. (.wave is selected by default,) but you use the dropdown list from that dialog box to select .mp3 as the export format, and follow the promts from there.

    Hope that helps.

I somehow didn't realize the mp3 exporter was a trial component of Sonar :/ I know that I bought a lower end version of Sonar but with engines like Lame out there - freely available - I would think my $200+ would include a basic feature like mp3 exporting. I come from an audio tracker background and unfortunately I have to say that I'm not terribly impressed with Sonar. Little things like the mp3 exporter are very frustrating for someone who scraped together a decent amount of money for a professional DAW. :/
