I'm considering getting an external sound card.
I bought an Emu 1212 PCI E SC, but Emu only had beta drivers for Windows 7 (my OS). I only get one sampling rate. I can't seem to record midi notes from within soft synths (I can if I play it with my Edirol PCRS M5O though). I can't seem to record midi to audio. Sonar X1 does a good job trying to work with it though.
The reason I bought it is because I just bought a Mac ( I'm using a dual boot system) that uses PCi Express bridges exclusively.
I emailed Emu to ask when the "official"drivers are coming out, and I got a response back saying that they can't release any information.
I was thinking of buying an external sound card. I heard there might be latency issues.
Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of External? I have no sound through my Windows OS ( the built in Hi Def audio drivers on my Mac won't work in Windows 7). Will an external card function like that?
Can an external card record itself (ie "What you here)?
Thanks.
PS. How come if I use the soft synth as a input on a Audio Track the Record button immediately disappears?
