Bootsy has a new one - preFix

Fans of Bootsy's excellent free plugs might like to know that there's a new release up.

preFIX – getting those alignments done.

preFIX is a pre-mixing and audio alignment tool which typically takes place upfront
the mixing process. It provides a clever tool set to clean-up, fix and align audio tracks
(typically taken from recordings) concerning overall frequency correction, phase
alignment, spatial stereo field corrections and routing. It contains a complete
gate/expander solution with a dedicated and comprehensive sidechain filtering path
as well.

I've been waiting on this one for quite some time, so I've just downloaded, now to check it out.

But I already have my blowlamp, crowbar and club-hammer for those.

    ???

Did you have trouble finding the download link from the main page then?  Hitting the Download tab worked for me.

Also with Bootsy the bump free version is normally v1.0.1...

Besides it can be quite heartening as a Cakewalk user to have a bug fix or feature enhancement make their way from your findings on an initial release to an improved version.

No problem finding (or getting) the download.  Just figured most 1.0 releases are soon followed by 1.1 releases with bug fixes - plus I'm too busy doing voice-overs to play ('cause with my ADHD, when I get distracted I really can get distracted!  Squirrel!!!! ).

    Thanks for the headsup JB!

Well I've given this a little try out and so far I'm impressed.

Those that are not in the position to fork out for the recently released Pro-G gate will definitely find solace here, as for me, this whole box of tricks revolves round a highly configurable and very capable gate at it's core.

The high and low pass filters on the main signal path are paired with shelving filters which work really well, theres a side chain path eq which brings some extra focus to bear on the gate for triggering a nice touch here is a switch to listen in on the sidechain path and external inputs to route an alternative signal into the sidechain to trigger the gate.

The gate itself is as good if not better than anything I have at my disposal already being fully configurable for threshold, range and knee, with hold and release timings both controllable and an ability to trigger 'before' the event.  It makes it a cinch to sharpen attacks and tidy up for some smooth decays and remove a myriad of unwanted noise.

Aside from a wee bit of glitching whilst making some adjustments while in use the feel of this thing is robust and clean as a whistle.

Add to this some really useful channel alignment tools and control over phase relationships and stereo placement and this unique suite of usefulness really does what it says on the tin.

But don't take my word for it.
