What sound card for my new i7 build?

I just built an i7 960 computer, 6gb RAM, and it is up and running.

Just need to add a sound card.

This machine is going to be a DAW for Sonar.

Here is the motherboard:

    What are your I/O needs?
    What existing gear do you have (preamps, etc)?
    What are your end goals?
    Budget?
     
    In general, RME units are known for great stability/performance...
    But we need more details to make any type of meaningful recommendation.

    Your choice of soundcard should be determined by your needs as a musician and what you intend to do with it, rather than by your PC spec.

    This DAW is a new build, with external equipment still to be determined...

    The genre is gangster rap. 


    The external equipment is all in the protools LE room, and we are constructing a Sonar X1 room, (with different equipment) in order to get HD sound.

    Here are some sample tracks.
    They are really good, for their genre.

    I'm open to all suggestions...!
