An insider at propellerhead told me something interesting....
A chap from propellerhead told me that x64 Rewire has been released in beta to developers and partners and that he didn't know when or if anyone was going to incorporate it into products. Well that snippet is certainly out of character for Propellerhead but I wonder whether the bakers could shed any light on whether they have been using the x64 Rewire beta and if they have plans to incorporate it into X1?

that would definitely be a Good Thing. And not, as the saying goes, a moment too soon.

I checked out Record as well and liked a lot of things about it. I'd like to love it and if it weren't so limited (not to mention proprietary dongle copy protection) - when are they going to open that system up to VSTs? - I would consider diving in and using it more.

bakers can't comment.. so no point to ask .. as much as props can't talk about things baker related props mug off their customers doing too little way too late.. I use / own a lot of their products and it's tiresome that they aren't on point.. and instead just try to flog new things and forget about old products.. (e.g. try using reason on an AMD) e.g. perhaps they can pull their finger out and add batch mode to recycle instead of trying to sell us more things. record is "ok" but time could have been spent better elsewhere IMHO. rex2 / 64 was needed YEARS ago... as is rewire 64.. only because they will lose sales are they finally working on them

I beta-tested Record and thought it was pretty cool too. Tho that interface did bug me a bit. If I had to guess I would say we wouldn't see ReWire 64 until the next major version of X1. I doubt they'd do it in a quick update or even a regular one, it's something you put out in a major .0 and totally bullet point it with the rest of the "whiz bang". I can practically hear Seth's voice on the teaser video now: "X2 integrates with all major studio standards, and features ReWire 64-bit connectivity to your other favorite tools like Reason and Record."

(e.g. try using reason on an AMD) What, like I have for the last 3 years without a hitch? Is there a problem, why wasn't I informed?

try using it with complex combi / thor patches.. v4 onward... my single core intel laptop was outperforming it (which has a lower cpu benchmark.. go figure)

try using it with complex combi / thor patches.. v4 onward... OK, if you say so it must be that, after 3 years I would have thought it would have shown up as an issue already though... Thor can get a bit CPU intensive but no more so than any other VSTi synth I use. Don't forget R4 only renders audio on a single core so it's not really all that surprising you got better results on your single core lappy. That's a long way off blaming AMD though. And as for Reason, Rewire going 64bit that will of course be nice but it hasn't stopped Reason being the most useful tool alongside Sonar in my arsenal as it still continues to be. props mug off their customers doing too little way too late.. I use / own a lot of their products and it's tiresome that they aren't on point.. and instead just try to flog new things and forget about old products.. (e.g. try using reason on an AMD) This doesn't make sense they only make 3 products you can buy (aside from Refills and being as you can use any standard sound source with it you don't even need any of those.) and the newest one of those (Record) must be approaching two years old, as you point out there is no yearly upgrade cycle, or subscription if you prefer. You just pay them an upgrade fee when they have something you want. How is that mugging anyone off? In terms of value for money Reason has been a fantastic product for me and I could have bought it 3 times over just on the amount spent on stuff that I've binned during the time I've owned it, yet many of those products I've virtually binned meantime get regularly updated and many are 64bit capable. It just works and doesn't get bogged down with regular useless feature additions and bells and whistles that I don't want. Also to be fair to Propellerheads I'm sure they wont be the last company to go 64bit.
