Out-of-office autoreply

Set your email out-of-office auto reply message to

The email server was unable to verify your connection and could not deliver the message. Please reboot your computer and try again.

The entertainment value in this is that you can check your inbox to see who was gullible enough to fall for the gag.

This forum software is horrible.  Everytime I start to read this thread, I see a statement the email server was unable to verify my connection and that I need to reboot my computer.  This has been going on for half an hour!

Why does Cakewalk's email server going down always happen when I'm trying to post here?

Not that it matters but I think I may be running out of reboots. You only get so many, right?

Hmm...  This could be good.  When I know my business partner is going to send me an email I can set it up to make it look like the auto-reply was sent to a bunch of important customers with the following text:

"Your email attachment, 'NakedSheepForWelshMen.Zip' was rejected by the server.  Please verify with your ISP if they will allow pornography of this type and resend your email."

bit... that's a classic.  I may never use it... but it has made my day.

Sounds like enough of the CH took it seriously that we'll have to redo our motto to "Reboots on the Ground"

Another fun office trick is to create a user dictionary on your coworker's computer and make sure their Word preferences have automatic spell check enabled. For example, if the victim's name is Steve, tell the dictionary that the correct spelling for "Steve" is "monkey butt". Laughs will ensue. Maybe not from Steve, but from everybody else.

Little beknownst to the kindly folk of the CH, their friend Dave had a sadistic streak..... for which all were very grateful.

I once set my voice mail message to something like- "Hi, this is Phil, and I probably saw your name or extension on my caller ID and chose to ignore the call, or maybe I'm just not here, or I may be having a smoke or otherwise indisposed."  I then left my manager a voice mail asking him to please call me immediately about 5 minutes before I expected him back from a meeting.  Luckily, he had a sense of humor.

It took me forever to log in to the forums this morning.  It kept changing my screen name to Monkey Butt.

A bunch of people here run OSX which makes a little paper crumpling sound when you empty the trash. Someone wired up a little speaker under one of the OSX user's desk and he would play that sound at random times during the day. The OSX guy was going crazy trying to figure out what was being deleted.
