This could have been better, but..

It could have been worse.  I'm so glad it's over!  (piano recital for my students on Sunday night...this is the piece I played.)

'Road Trip' by Jon Schmidt, played by me

Actually, Bapu ... I think it's Memorex    Very nice Janet, it really picks up at the end, doesn't it.

Sounded good!  Weren't you supposed to turn toward the camera and grin at the end though?

    Thanks Ed. :)

Thanks Jim.  I think it conveys a road trip pretty well, although I don't particularly enjoy road trips myself.  Well, unless maybe it's thru the Rockies or NW Oregon or something.  Anyway, yeah it picks up...and I couldn't seem to keep the tempo down either.

Thanks Craig.  I think neither I nor the videographer really knew WHAT we were supposed to do. lol  And I'm no Victor Borge either.  :)

Thanks Grant.  I had decided to NOT play one this year.  But that one's just so darn fun to play.  In fact, Jon said it was his favorite at the time.  (he may written a new favorite by now.)

I still can't get used to seeing Jon Schmidt as a celebrity. My sister and he used to date, and so to me he's just that guy who dated my sister. He'd come over and play our piano a lot (I seem to recall him developing "Waterfall" around that time...), and I had the privilege of scaring them out of their wits one night when they were watching a movie in the basement.

And thanks for posting the video. Nice to see you playing.

    Thanks Greg!

Tarsier:  Really?  Cool. He charges $1000 to come and play and your house now.  Unless you live close by, then it's only $500 (I think.)  I think it's interesting how he's gone about making money with his talent, with providing music books, selling his sheet music for 99 cents a piece (downloaded) (which isn't so unusual now, but it used to be), playing for private parties and larger venues too.  I got to see him in concert in Wisconsin a couple years ago.  Wish I would have sat closer to the front.  He's not nearly as funny as Victor Borge, but actually PLAYED the whole hour instead of for about 7 minutes like Victor seemed to. lol  But he's got way more stage presence than I do.  :)

Thanks Michael.  The sound of that grand in that church is absolutely amazing I think.  I wish I could capture it.  I thought of playing it on my studio keyboard and using Ivory, then trying to sync up the video with it, like the young man does in the songs forum (cho-somebody.), but that seems like too much work right now.  I'd say maybe some day when I get bored, or see a good reason to do it.  Which means it most likely won't happen.
