I had my first bout with.....

Gout!!
This has definitely won 1st prize in the disabling catagory. I've played all kinds of sports throughout my whole life and have had everything from broken bones, torn ligaments, torn ACL, multiple dislocations etc..., but the pain from gout is bar none. It's almost like someone continuously keeps stepping on a broken bone (not that I've gone through that, but I'd imagine it to be something like this) and you don't get any relief. It's been about a week now and I'm not quite convinced the meds prescribed by my street pharmacist primary care provider is working.
 
Dealing with injuries is not a big deal to me as it happened so very often and there was nothing a little duck tape couldn't resolve, but this really did a TKO on me. Of course the good lady of the house has taken over my diet and from looking at what can and can't be eaten, it looks like becan is definitely out  while water is my only other option. Although we have 3 toddlers in the house, I seem to be the newest addition for my wife to attend to. Life is good!!  

I have a family member and a friend who suffers with it.

There is supposed to be a script that when taken (while not in the throws of an attack) will give you one more go round but after that it's not supposed to return.

Ooh, that's rough...

I hope you feel better soon.  Hopefully, you can adapt to the new diet without too much emotional distress.  What the medical community will never tell you is that there is substantial healing power in Hostess Ho-Hos. 

I am not a doctor, (or someone who knows anything at all), but I've found that a dose of Ho-Hos can really speed healing.  (This is the point where a nutritionalist would throw their hands up and declare, "I can't work with this idiot!")

Lol...I'd definitely agree with you Bubba on the Ho-Ho's!!!As well as chocolate crocodiles and ding dongs!! Feed the brain stomach and the rest will follow. 
Unfortunately, my nutritionalist, doctor, pediatrician, and financial advisor....all of them who happen to be my wife, seems to have a different view . I'm still working on fixing this abnormal thought  behaviour. 

 
I've had it twice - and it's incredibly bloody painful, I needed a walking stick to get around both times 
 
I was prescribed Indomethacin which cleared up both instances in a few days or so.
 
 

Gout has some weird effects that is for darn sure..as for diet..meh...I have diabetes..no Ho-Ho's for this one!!
