Can't erase MIDI notes in PRV

I am using Producer V8.3.1.  Somehow I got into a mode where whenever I go into the PRV view to edit MIDI notes, and I use the Erase Tool to erase a note, a circle with line through it appears on the cursor (i.e., erasing MIDI notes is prevented).  Don't know how I got into this mode or how to get out of it.  I then opened up an older/completed project and tried to erase a MIDI note in it, but was prevented from doing so there also.  Sonar does the same thing on a brand new project when I record MIDI notes from a MIDI keyboard.  I did not bounce any tracks, especially in the brand new project I just opened as a test case.  Strangely, I can use the Pencil Tool to add MIDI notes into that same MIDI track, but I can't erase any notes from it. (??)
How do I get rid of this setting?

    Check the little lock icon on the top left of the PRV window. You probably inadvertently clicked it.

    I emailed you, but since you posted here as well I thought I'd share here in case anyone else needs to know.

    you probably have the DISABLE TRACK EDITING on.



    click in that grey box and turn it white and you should be good to edit!

    Have you tested to see whether other methods of deleting notes do not work?  For example, what happens when you select a note and hit the delete key?

    Thanx for the suggestions, folks.
    I closed everything back down, rebooted back up, checked all of the suggestions, and now it will delete notes in the PRV. (??)  I didn't change anything, so who knows....ghost in the machine I guess.
    Thanx Reece for letting me know that the MIDI erase cursor *should* be a circle with a line through it.  When it wouldn't delete the notes before, I thought maybe it was telling me it wasn't set up to delete the notes in some global or project setting (which was not the case).
