Anyone using the buss comp to master?

I have tried several ways to compress to master in X1. Was wondering about other peoples preference. I tried Boost 11, easy goto. I tried the Sonitus Compressor, more control. I tried the buss compressor in ProChannel, a little finnicky. Really couldn't hear much difference between the different ones. A little more high end on the Boost 11 64. I have also tried the Bootsy. Very nice. Just wondering what everyone seems to be gravitating towards.

    Another thread recently bemoaned the lack of a good mastering limiter among SONAR's bundled tools, a legitimate complaint, IMO. Fortunately, there are many reasonably-priced third-party options.

    It would be interesting to take a poll - too bad this mediocre forum software doesn't support polling - and find out what folks around here do use. I suspect that the top vote-getters would be Ozone, T-Racks, Voxengo Elephant and Waves L1. An up-and-comer with a bullet is FabFilter Pro-L, a relative newcomer but definitely on its way to becoming a serious contender.

    I still think Ozone is the friendliest option for folks who don't really quite know what they're doing yet. It handles abuse very well and you have to really work at it to make it sound bad.



    All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Seriously, your list of preferred mastering plugs seems spot on - I can't think of many others that fall into the affordable reach of most of us.

    Bus compressor or limiter? Great advice re: the limiters, for a bus compressor try The Glue - many great reviews.

    I've been working on a Berklee audio mastering class which uses Ozone. At first glance, it seems really simple, but once you dig in deep, it's really powerful. The Ozone guide is really solid too. 

    I've seen T-racks, but never used it. 

    Mastering is a tricky topic. You've really gotta learn compression, limiting, M/S EQ and so forth as well as have a fantastic monitoring environment.

    Yes, but the new Slate Digital FG-X just toasts everything! I haven't used my L1 since I bought this plugin, it really is quite amazing. 

    And to the op - please don't use Boost 11! That plugin should be made illegal 

    I'll have three fingers of Glenlivet, with a little bit of pepper... and some cheese.
