SONAR 7 AND KONTAKT 4/URBAN RIG WORKSTATION ISSUES

i'm a new user of NI instruments, but  i'm having difficulty getting my kontakt 4 player to receive midi info for its new "urban rig" workstation. when i open kontakt/UR as a standalone, it seems to work fine, but when i open it as a VST plug-in, i can see midi information going into the track, but i don't hear anything. i'm not sure if i've provided enough info, but all the midi configs and audio configs seem to recognize my streaming asio from my emu1616 soundcard and the audio is routed as well.
 
anyone using the kontakt 4/urban rig setup?

    I found kontakt to be a little quirky when setting up the inputs and outputs, especially the outputs.

    do you see any activity on the output meters on kontakt's output?
