DSF Steinway

The DSF Steinway seems like a bargain for $20, however, how come Cakewalk can't muster a little demo of it so I could hear how it sounds? I know they must have software that allows them to make recordings. Send me $100 and the DSF Steinway software and I'll make one for you. They sure expect a lot of trust. And not even one review is posted! I'm sure I won't be able to return it if I don't like it. And to boot, if you go to the Digital Sound Factory website, they don't even have the Steinway package listed. Why? Was it that bad? I smell Clearance Sale. I refuse to buy this without a demo and a review.

The other bummer is that it works with Sonar Sound Center, which is not all that impressive. I've installed it with X1, but when I go to use some of the voices, it says it can't find xxxxx.sfz and I can't find anything that tells me how to get it to find the files which I can find myself easily. The Help menu has about 5 pages of nothing useful.

Cakewalk... I'm a fan, but your recent products (X1, DPro upgrade, Rapture upgrade) are really testing my patience. Your product installs are the WORST I've ever experienced and I've been using computers daily for the last 30 years so I know my way around. Get with it!

    +1 Dave.

Sound Center is 32bit only which is disappointing.

I was wondering about some of the sound packs for sale also. I was interested in the strings package but I won't spring for it because there's no demo.

That and it seems to be download only which is impossible for me.

Edit: I just noticed that there is a demo link there for the Orchestral Stings Expansion pack. My script blocking program had removed the link and I just picked up on it.

Here is the demo link: http://www.digitalsoundfa...cts_id/384   If you are doing a lot of piano the full version of Truepianos is worth a look.

Thanks for the link, mho34 - It's an honest sounding demo, with zero reverb.  Sounds fair enough - pretty bad phasing "Honky Tonk" ends the clip, but the earlier parts with the more straight piano sounds makes it seem like this package would do fine in a mix.
