A500 pro

I'm about to purchase my new keyboard and have decided on the A500 pro for various reasons mainly compatibility with Sonar.  I have found the Roland A-500PRO-R on musicians friend for 265 and the cakewalk is 350.  I can't see any difference between the two.  Will I be missing out on anything by going with the Roland without the cakewalk label on it....

There's no difference between the two models, just the label on the box and the unit itself. If I were in your shoes I'd go for the lower priced unit, unless you feel the Cakewalk version will become a collector's item some day.

i have the A800 pro Cakewalk version, and think it's pretty great.
a few glitches aside, it works pretty seemlessly with Sonar straight out of the box.

--a sub topic since you brought up the A-800, Chez.  I've had that keyboard since Christmas, and I'm basically happy with it.  But I find the Aftertouch to be unusable.  I've made a map I dial up when needed, which has AT mapped to the mod stick.

How's the AT situation for you?

Just got my A500 pro and so far for the 265 I paid for it I am very happy.  ACT works really well on this controller compared to the evolution I was using previously.  Thanks for every ones input

Cool, Sykodelic - It will be interesting to hear how the key Aftertouch works for you.  Let us know?

This controller is still on sale at Musicians Friend. Both the Roland and Cakewalk badged ones are $269 w/free shipping, a substantial discount. I just got mine and the aftertouch even at stock settings seems to work decently. Nicely built controller, and at a great price!

I'm loving this A500 Pro too! I'm liking ACT, the dynamic pads and knob on the top left that moves the now time by a 1/4 note, I'm just getting into it! Can't wait to assign all these knobs and sliders, it also feels like quality craftsmenship...

This thing is way way better than my Yamaha KX 61
