Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters Cover

Hey,
I'm back with a new song. I've not managed to get on here for a while. Had a break in and had a lot of gear stolen so I've been trying to get them replaced etc. That's why there was such a long gap between my last recording/video.

I hope you enjoy what I'm doing.

Mix wise, I know the compression is aggressive and it pushes and pulls the mix quite a bit. That's a concious decision from me, but, I know a lot of people aren't really into that on here.

Anyway, have a watch, in HD if you can. The video is pretty cool, so I hope you enjoy it.

    Hi there Chris

That's a smoking cover my friend, very faithful to the original.

And the video is excellent too - very professional.

Sorry to hear about your gear getting stolen, I hope the bastards' fingers drop off.

Nice work as usual, Chris. Wanted a little more bass to push out of my sub, but I guess that could be YouTube.

Anyhoo, do you have someone do these vids for you?

It'll probably be down to mastering it in a different room this time. It does different things to the bass but does tend to solve muddiness. I did record my bass quite top heavy too though.

I do all the videos myself. Because I just use static shots, it's pretty easy to sort out. I usually put something in the frame to get the focus point before I go into the frame or use the auto focus to take a still picture then take auto focus off which gives me the focus points. Then it's just a case of editing how I see fit.

The editor I use has a very easy way of synchronising 9 videos so that I can mix in real time at the touch of a key on the keyboard. Then it's just a case of cleaning it up, colour correcting and putting effects on depending on what sort of thing I'm going for.

I'm planning a much more involved video soon when I've re-recorded one of my original works. It'll use cloning techniques, but, look like it's a live band video.

GREAT production and performance on this piece, Chris. I'm guessing your instrument of choice are the drums by the look of your video performance.  All in all a FANTASTIC job looking forward to your next tune/video.

Yeah, that's right. I'm a drummer by trade. Thanks very much for watching and commenting.

I had written a really long detailed reply but it seems as though Internet Explorer deleted it before I managed to post. In any case. Thanks for listening and I'm glad you enjoyed it, because I certianly enjoy making them!

@ Mike: Really? there were no amps used for guitars or bass. I used my GT-10 for guitar and D.I.'d the bass. I do have a nice TLA valve pre but that aside everything was done in the box. (I actually did the final mix on earphones).

Thanks again. I'm really happy with it and the sounds I'm getting at the moment. Cheers for the feedback.

Hi cho... I was serious about the great stuff remark.

I was being a wise guy about the analog... it was a bad joke about the latest Foo Fighters record... I really didn't think about it much while enjoying your music... I simply enjoyed your music and your video. It was great stuff!!!

    Sorry for the confusion.

    all the best,
    mike
