Tips and Tricks Problems w/Audiosnap

Last night thought I'd try some of the Groove 3 tips and tricks videos suggestions for quantizing multi track drums. Everything seemed to be ok until I tried to save my work and X1 crashed. Tried it several times and always crashed! It's a rather involved process so I won't go into it here, other than to say it involves audiosnap. Now I believe the song has become corrupted somehow. Can't seem to open it now. Anyone else seeing this? X1PE with latest QuickFix 255.

Dude, I completely feel your frustration. I had audio snapped 12 tracks of drums only to have the same thing happened. But I was on 8.5.3 at the time. I called CW support and everything.

Audio Snap is a little buggy, so when you get your project back in order, I highly recommend bouncing your tracks and staying away from it as much as possible. In small amounts, it seems to be fine, but I've noticed that the more layers of AS you use, the more Sonar started going crazy.

That said, here is what fixed my project issue. My project got to the point where it would crash on load, due to AS. So what I did was this:

    • Load the project in safe mode (hold shift while loading). this got it loaded.
    • Save the project as a Cakewalk bundle (CWB)
    • Close out your project
    • Load in the bundle.
It magically started working again AND AS worked without crashing. This happened to me 3 or 4 times with a band I was working on, so I stopped using AS altogether. One day it will rock the llama, but that day is not today.

In fairness, I haven't really used AS in X1 yet, so hopefully it's better.

Hope that helps. I was having panic attacks when I lost my project the first time. CW support is pretty helpful most of the time.
