STEP SEQUENCER HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN

This seems to be a bug, but maybe I'm doing something wrong.  I'm trying to put down a drum track using the STEP SEQUENCER.  To change the pattern at various points I'm COPYING the previous beat measure(s) over to the new measure, then I right click and select UNLINK STEP SEQUENCER CLIPS, and again right click, select VIEW, and then select STEP SEQUENCER.  This brings up the same pattern that was COPIED.  I then add or erase the drum sounds that I need.  My problem is that the new drum sounds are being added to the pattern that was copied, even though I selected UNLINK STEP SEQUENCER.  I have also had an instance where the new drum sounds were randomly added to a much earlier drum pattern that wasn't even COPIED to made the new one.  I've also had an issue with the drum pattern I created playing backwards on the track.  For instance, let's say I'm using a 4/4 beat.  It should go 1-snare, 2-hi hat, 3-snare snare, 4, hi hat.  It instead inserts itself on the track as 1-hi hat, 2-snare snare, 3-hi hat, 4-snare.

Can somebody please help?  This is making me crazy.

If I'm understanding you correctly that's how it is supposed to work. When you unlink the two clips you are still left with the original beats in the copy, else it wouldn't be a copy.

You can then remove beats from that clip and/or add them without it affecting the first clip. That's what the unlink command is for.

I haven't tried it, but I think that's exactly the problem he's reporting. The first clip is being affected by the edits to the unlinked copy.

That is how it is supposed to work, but it wasn't working properly.  Oddly enough, I'm not having any problems with it now.  I'm not doing anything different than I was earlier, so I'll have to see happens.

One thing I've noticed here with the Step Sequencer is that sometimes when I'm deleting or adding a row to a clip it appears to cause duplicate notes to be created.

First few times it happend I wondered what key shortcut / button I'd hit accidentaly to cause the increase in volume, etc... but now that I'm aware of it I have got into the habit of going into the prv & running the CAL script to delete duplicates after an SS edit.

Has anyone else experienced this, or is it just me & my setup ?
