Amazing and frightening at the same time.

It's so encouraging to hear and see how many volunteers are responding to help them.  Someone from the local radio station went down there this morning with a load of things to donate and said there are just tons of trucks full of goods, people everywhere, etc.  It's great to see people pull together to help.  AND now people are much quicker to respond to tornado warnings around here, so yesterday, when a smaller one touched down about an hour north from here, no one was killed.

But speaking of the guitar...it's crazy what that wind will do!

night before last we had 9 tornados touch down in the DFW area.  there was a lot of damage, but no casualties reported.

My heart goes out to those folks in Joplin and OK.  nature is a fierce beast.

Somewhere in my photo files I have a photo of a 2X4 stuck right into a concrete bridge abutment that I had taken just after the Woodstock ON tornado when  I was still living there ...it is quite impressive how things can just be jammed into things by the tornado...

My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones or who are still searching for relatives there at the present...

My grandma used to tell of seeing straw stuck into trees, and of chickens with their feathers blown off after a tornado.

Amazing.  Be looking for that one on Craigslist.

Seriously, I wouldn't know where to begin when I see the destruction in these neighborhoods.

I heard that one of the reasons so many died in Joplin was because the sirens had been going off all day.  When the last (and for real) one finally sounded, the tornado was so loud not all could hear it.  :(

    That's really sad.
It would make my wife crazy; she's from Plainfield IL and ever since it got hit she's gone from being visibly frightened every time the weather turned stormy to now a healthy caution.
Of course, there it was the opposite, virtually no warning ahead of an EF5... they have their own doppler radar now.
