New to MIDI and I'm not sure what I'm doing.

I'll admit this is probably a lack of experience issue so please be patient. I've previously written music in MIDI writing software and have imported my tracks into SONAR no problem. I also have been playing my MIDI tracks through software synthesizers and understand (at least basically) whats going on there. However I never really liked any of the banks or patches available and at Beagle's suggestion on a separate thread, downloaded SoundBrewer patches. I am now at a loss in trying to figure out how to get those patches INTO my tracks on SONAR, please help.

hi Chris - which version of soundbrewer patches did you download?  he has 4 versions, I think, Kontakt, Gigastudio, Halion and SFZ.  unless you have Kontakt, Gigastudio or Halion, then the only way to use soundbrewer sounds would be to have downloaded SFZ and use the SFZ+ (free download) from cakewalk. to use them.

OK another problem. I can pull up the SFZ box and select the sound brewer patches fine, but whenever i click play the box saying prgm goes blank and i have to click it again for it to engage and get sound. What am i doing wrong?

I don't know, I've never seen that behavior, but it's been a while since I've used SFZ.  if you press play the 2nd time does it work?

Is the song starting at measure 1? Try adding a few empty measures to the front to give the synths time to crank up. "Insert>Time/Measures".
