Sonar X1 + V-Studio 100

Hey what's up!  I can't seem to get sound thru my mic into Sonar.  Everything else works except gettin' sound from my mic.  I'm at a real stand still right now, and it sucks!  Any help will be greatly appreciated...

    sorry if this sounds obvious but did you enable the input in preferences.

    There's not a lot of details to go by, but the things I'd check first:

    • make sure your preamp is up
    • if there are any switches to change a front / rear preamp on your IO, change it (not familiar with the vs100)
    • make sure your track input is set to the right hardware IO input (IE: vstudio 100 left 1/2)
    • change the cable
    • change the mic (maybe it died)
    • if your mic needs phantom power, make sure it's on (CAREFULL! some mics can be destroyed by phantom power)
    • if you have a pad on your mic input, turn it off
    • make sure you're using an XLR cable and not a XLR -> 1/4" adapter.
    That's about all I can think of. If you can provide more information, that'd really help. Maybe a pic or two of your set and how you have it in sonar.

    Thanks guys.  As far as what I'm lookin' at, everything is set correctly.  But I think I'm having trouble finding the correct input and output from my computer to Sonar.  Like I kno it should be vstudio in 1-2, and out 1-2 right?  But when I click on the track to set it, it says in parenthesis VS-100 (5 in, 3 out).  And basically that's where I think I'm goin' wrong at.

    Can you take a screen shot of your input menu, that'd help me understand. You have to choose the input that corresponds to your hardware input and the output should pretty much always be your master bus unless you're intentionally routing it differently. Here is what mine looks like with the vstudio 700. You can't see it, but the master bus routes out the SUB out, cause that's where my monitors currently are. Hope this helps.

    Hey thanks alot Josh for taking the time to show that to me.  I finally figured it out... And I am too ready to get started!  I appreciate your help tho bro.
